Do you want to make a DIY project out of painting your own house? That’s an excellent project to get you started, but it is so easy to mess it up. In order to make sure that you do it right, it would be a wise move if you were to prepare a checklist of the things that you need to do before painting your walls. To help you in making a checklist, here are some of the tasks that you have to include in that.
Clear the Room
If you are painting the interior of your house, then it would make sense to do it one room at a time. Before you start painting a room, what you should do is to clear it first of any furniture or belongings that might get in the way. The might also drip down and ruin those pieces. If there is something that’s too heavy to move around then cover it up.
When covering furniture and other heavy pieces it is better for you to use a piece of heavy cloth as it can absorb drops of paint.
Preparing the Wall
It is a must for you to prepare the wall by cleaning it thoroughly. You have to clean it thoroughly using some powerful soap and water. If you can, spend some time in scrubbing the surface of the wall. That would remove all of the dirt and grime that has accumulated on the surface. Try smoothing the surface as well.
Painting a dirty surface would affect the quality of your work since the paint would not be able to stick very well on a dirty surface.
Checking the Weather
Before you start your painting you should check the weather. A painting project would best be done on days when there is not too much moisture in the air. The moisture can get in the way of the paint and the surface making it hard for the paint to stick to the surface. So before you start your painting you need to make sure that it will not be raining that day.
Get Everything First
Before you start your painting, you have to see to it that you already have everything will need for the project. It would be a great deal of hassle if you have to keep interrupting your work in order to buy the tools and materials that would be required.
