TEXAS WINS BIG AGAINST KANSAS: LONGHORNS TAKE FIRST DIVISION TITLE SINCE 2005

Texas began the night 10 – 0.  Their path to the Big 12 South is clear with a win against Kansas.  But never count your opponent out, especially when the opponent is looking to redeem themselves after a five game loosing streak.

“We will see a team in here from Kansas that is excited about playing, trying to right their wrongs from over the past five weeks, and trying to get in a bowl game,” Said Coach Mack Brown.  “They have us and then their rivalry game with Missouri the next week, so they have a lot to play for.”

Still, the Longhorns have won all seven Big 12 meetings against the Kansas Jayhawks plus last year’s win was a high scoring game, 37 – 7.  So it comes as no surprise Longhorn fans are looking forward to a win and another high scoring game.

"We win this game we clinch the South," Colt McCoy commented. "It's a big game, so you can't let your emotions get too high, you have to treat it like another game. After the game you can think about it a little bit."

A win against Kansas will make Colt McCoy the winningest quarterback in NCAA history surpassing former Georgia quarterback David Greene’s record of 42 career victories.  Just as important is the Longhorns record of multiple seasons with 10 plus wins; a feat not equaled by any other team in college football.

"He is the only quarterback to lead his team to 10-plus wins each of the four years…a phenomenal stat when you start looking at what he's done," Coach Mack Brown said. "The seniors and Colt have 42 wins."

It’s almost game time and Longhorn fans are out in full strength to support their team and the Seniors in their last home game.  But Kansas Jayhawk fans are also representing.  Their presence could be attributed to Kansas quarterback, Todd Reesing’s return to Austin.  Reesing, a graduate of Lake Travis High School will be making his first appearance in Austin since going to Kansas.  “He is a leader on that team,” said Coach Mack Brown.  “He [Reesing] is a guy who they all look up to. He is to Kansas what Colt is to us, and I promise you that Coach Mangino will have them ready to play.”
