TEXAS STEAMROLLS OVER BAYLOR
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Game 10, Texas is undefeated with a 5 – 0 conference record and a 9 – 0 overall record plus the number 1 defense in the nation. But somehow Texas dropped to number 3 in this week’s BCS standings.

How do Longhorn fans feel about this? More importantly how do the players and Coach Mack Brown feel about the standings?

"I've called the computers. They haven't called me back," said Coach Brown jokingly. "I've invited them to our games…I don't think any of them have shown up."

Understandably, many Longhorn fans are baffled by the BCS standings and question the system’s logic, but the Longhorns don’t appear to be rattled. In fact, the Horns seem focused on the ultimate goal. "We want to win the Big 12 South and the Big 12," Coach Brown said. "Our dream would be to win a national championship. We've got to keep our eyes and our minds on our goals."

First things first, the Longhorns need to focus on today’s game against Baylor. "I've played against Baylor for three years going on my fourth year," said Colt McCoy. "It is tough to play up there. Sometimes the stadium is windy, and I think we really have to focus on ourselves…focus on going back to work."

A win against Baylor will bring the Longhorns closer to their national championship dream and a win will also tie Colt McCoy with former Georgia quarterback David Greene’s NCAA record of 42 career victories. This is all the more reason the Longhorns are focused on the win.

Well it’s game time and the even though Texas is playing at Baylor, Longhorn fans have a strong presence.

There you have it, Texas is now 10 – 0 and steadily making their dream a reality with their running game making a come back and Cody Johnson leading the way. “We needed balance and we felt we could do a few things this week with Cody and Tre’,” said Coach Mack Brown. “They both stepped up. We feel our offense can be really good if we are balanced.”

Cody Johnson certainly stepped up Texas’ running game. “I feel like I can run the ball better,” Johnson said. “I can move the ball...That’s how I’ve felt the last couple of weeks.”

Longhorn fans agree Texas is playing a more balanced game. A game, that can help Texas get closer to a national championship. Before they can get there they have to get through Kansas and Texas A&M. Can they do it, stay tuned. See you next week and HOOK’EM HORNS.
