THE HOUSTON TEA PARTY SOCIETY INVITES YOU TO 'DECLARE YOUR INDEPENDENCE'

The Houston Tea Party Society is coming off some great successes in the past few months.  First was their incredibly well attended, lively rally, held in Downtown Houston on Tax Day, then they held a successful protest when Nancy Pelosi came to town, and now they’re gearing up for their biggest event ever.

While Tea Parties everywhere were in the spotlight back on April 15 of this year, many national political analysts and the true brainiacs of the political world, TV News People, asked one question over and over again, “Okay so you had a great Tax Day rally, what next?”

There were underlying currents of concern from the right that the Tea Party movement would be a flash-in-the-pan coming and going as fast as the IRS can clean out your bank account.  Not so.  At least not in Houston.  The Houston Tea Party Society has been hard at work planning  more rallies, more demonstrations and a really big show at Discovery Green on July 3 to celebrate the birth of our nation.

Joshua Parker, the Assistant Lead Organizer for the Houston Tea Party Society says, “This is going to be a big rally and celebration.  No politicians.  No candidates.  We’ll have great speakers, lots more room (than at the April rally), lots of booths and music. “

Comedian and conservative Steve Crowder will be the keynote speaker for the event on July 3.  In addition to Mr. Crowder, “Termite” Watkins, an American boxer who helped train the Iranian boxing team for the Olympics, will be on hand, as will other guest speakers and local musicians.

One of the most unique speakers to grace the stage will no doubt be the official winner of the Houston Tea Party Society’s Rants.  Over the past several weeks, The Houston Tea Party Society has sponsored “Open Mike Rants” at local pubs in search of their winning rant.  They’ve currently narrowed the field to three and will announce their winner today, June 24.

The final three include; Nick Carbone

Eddie Gallegos

And Tracy Miller

In addition to her  mad “Rant” skills, Tracy Miller has organized a rally today at the studios of KTRK-TV (ABC) in Houston.   The Houston Tea Party Society will join that rally in full force.  Today will mark the end of an eight day protest at KTRK by Miller.

Joshua Parker says, “Tracy Miller survived a really rare form of cancer and she believes that if socialized medicine had existed, she would have died.”

KTRK-TV, Channel 13 is the local ABC Television Network affiliate, and is owned by ABC/Disney.  Tonight, ABC will give President Obama an unprecedented “infomercial” opportunity on the network.

Joshua Parker says there is more to come following the July 3 event, too.

“We’re restructuring to allow for more involvement.  We’re able to mobilize, and will be doing more protests.”

Meanwhile, come to Discovery Green on July 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and “Declare Your Independence”.
