Events in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Grapevine to Span April 14th-17th
HOUSTON
-- Jeff Daiell, a candidate for the 2010 Libertarian nomination for
Governor of Texas, will be a featured speaker at four Tax Freedom Day
Dinners later this month.
The events celebrate the day each year (April 9th this year) in which the average American taxpayer begins working for him/herself and not the IRS.
Houston's event will be April 14th, followed the next night by an event in Austin. On the 16th, San Antonio will see a dinner, and Grapevine (Tarrant County) will celebrate on April 17th.
Stephanie Zachry, Scheduler for the Campaign, compared her candidate to Doremus Jessup, a character in Sinclair Lewis's It Can't Happen Here, who, as the novel closes, drives from city to city to encourage citizens to stand up for their Rights.
"He's running a Statewide campaign for the nomination, building a Statewide organization, and drawing support from all across Texas," he noted.
All four events commence at 6:30 PM, each at a Salt Grass Restaurant. In Houston, the location is 8943 Katy Freeway. Austin's Dinner will be at 10614 Research Blvd. San Antonio will celebrate Tax Freedom Day at 11745 W. I-10, while the Grapevine Dinner takes place at 102 E. State Highway 114.
Daiell holds the record for the most votes, and the highest percentage, by a Libertarian nominee for Governor of Texas. Daiell's platform combines support for free enterprise with respect for civil liberties. Several planks are already posted at the campaign's website, www.JeffDaiell.com. The campaign also has three separate Facebook pages (Daiell for Governor), and is on Twitter (WeAreTexans).
