SO YOU THINK YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE

By Darrel Mulloy

I have been reading the columns about the recent Washington DC protest and the varying numbers that have been reported by either the mainstream media or Fox and even foreign correspondents. While the mainstream prefers to report the number at somewhere around 60,000 or less, Fox indicated the number was much greater, in at least hundreds of thousands and others report as many as two million, including the DC police.

So what? Obama says he knew nothing about the protest, and congress was all at home trying to convince the people to re-elect them in 2010. The crowd, no matter what its size was playing to an empty theater. Sure, we know that the number was greater than most liberal protests have been, and those of us who either were there or watched it on Fox or the internet have probably already made up our minds to vote for a more conservative candidate in 2010 and 2012, so what did the protest accomplish?

It made the people who were there feel good, and that and $5.00 will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Hundreds of thousands or millions; depending on whose numbers you believe; went home feeling that they had made a difference. Now they can go back the real world and wait for November 2010 to see if anything happened to change the status quo, and in my opinion, it won’t. We may see a shift from those with a D behind their name to those with a R behind it, but so what? Eight years of George W. Bush, and with most of those years a Republican controlled congress, gave us higher spending than we have ever had up to that time. We were promised elimination of some needless government programs and departments, but instead got an expansion of one of the departments that was promised to be eliminated, and witnessed an increase in the size and scope of government, and its intrusion into our lives.

As a member of the Texas Nationalist Movement, I believe that the answer lies not in Washington DC, but right here in Texas. I believe that Texas should be a free and independent republic once again, able to choose its own destiny and take its place among the nations of the world. As a free and independent people, we would represent one of the largest economies in the world, with some of the finest agriculture, manufacturing, seaports, and climate to be found anywhere in the world. We could once again, represent the principles on which America was founded; the rights of the people, all people, to pursue, and succeed or fail in that pursuit of, their dream. One of the things that seem to have been forgotten by the current administration is that no company is too big to fail, and that failure only makes us stronger if we look at why we fail. I read that Henry Ford went bankrupt five times before coming back to create Ford Motor Company as a success.

A new Republic of Texas will give you the right to fail, and the incentive to succeed. Success or failure can only happen in a free and independent nation that allows the individual to follow his or her dream, and that dream has been lost under the Washington DC government.

If you feel as I do, that we all have an inherent right to freedom, and that we can better achieve that freedom as an independent nation, please visit our website and join us in our cause to make Texas once again one of the great nations of the world. All we are asking is for those in Austin to give the people the chance to vote on the issue of Texas independence. If you think we deserve that opportunity, visit us at www.texasnationalist.com and sign our petition and consider joining us in our quest to free the people of Texas from the hold that Washington now has on us.

God bless Texas

so secede already.
If you really want to secede just go ahead and do it. All by yourself. See just what the government has to say about your going it alone. What makes you think one state can just go it alone. Do you really think they will do nothing while you try and set up a stable government? We need all the states to take on the federal government and put them in their place. 50 states working to return us to a Constitutional government. Your biggest real problem is that you tried this as the republic of texas and it failed. Now you have rebranded yourself as the texas nationalist movement. so what you still don't have a real movement. Your rally in Austin on the 29th of august was less than 500 people. At least half of them was more interested in the sovereignty issue.
