HOPE FOR AN INDEPENDENT TEXAS

by Darrell Mulloy

The Texas Nationalist Movement sees secession as the logical answer

Most of us in our lifetime have witnessed the growth of Washington DC government to a point that it has taken a role in factions of our lives that was never intended by the founding fathers. The Constitution, the playbook for America, designated limited powers to the United States, meaning the president, congress and the federal court system. It specifically spelled out those limited powers in Article 1 of the Constitution and with the addition of the Bill of Rights, in amendment 9 and 10 left all powers not given to Washington DC to the states and the people. Since 1860, we have seen the United States Government ignore the rules from that playbook, and play by a set of rules that they wrote as they went along.

Abraham Lincoln was the first president to totally ignore the Constitution when he refused to let some of the states exercise their constitutional right and secede from a Union that they could no longer tolerate. Slavery was not exclusive to the southern states, but Lincoln used the issue of slavery to ignite public sentiment for his unconstitutional war against the south. Being the agricultural center of the United States, Lincoln could not afford to let the southern states secede. Lincoln was also the first president to ask for and get, a national income tax, again, in violation to the Constitution. Congress was told it was necessary in order to fund the Union Army, but when the Civil War was over, the tax remained until challenged in court in the 1890’s

It is unfortunate that our school system has failed to teach the children they were charged with educating, about the Constitution and how history has treated it. If Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were running for office today, they would be laughed at and would stand little chance of getting elected.

How have we come so far from the founders’ vision? Is it possible that the majority of voters in this nation want government to watch over them from cradle to grave? We at the Texas Nationalist Movement think it is not only possible, but it has reached a point where it cannot be turned around. If America were to dissolve all of its welfare programs and return to a truly constitutional republic, not a democracy, there would be a public outcry from coast to coast. Washington DC is broken beyond repair. We have tried in the past to fix it, but it couldn’t be done. We have removed the defective parts and replaced them with new ones, only to find the new parts become just as defective as the ones we removed. We have finally decided that the only way to solve the problem is by returning to the free and independent republic that we once were.

We are not opposed to giving things one last chance, and we will be in full strength on August 29, at the south steps of the Capitol in Austin to tell Governor Perry and the candidates who will be running against him next March, that we want a special session of our state congress to address the passage of HCR50 to require Austin to enforce the tenth amendment. Failing that effort, we are going to demand that there is a measure placed on the ballot that will allow the voters in Texas to speak their minds on the issue of secession.

Sovereignty and secession are the only answers to our problems in Washington DC.

Way to show us the way
You should team up with Hawaii, and Alaska to win your freedom. Texans are not alone in wanting to secede. I am from Seattle Washington and hope you will show my state the way to freedom.

Choices
All we want to do is peacefully reestablish our nation. We are committed to not initiating violence against anyone. Can the same be said about the U.S.? I hope we can have a positive relationship with the U.S. I just feel that Texas deserves to meet them on the stage of nations as an equal. The Federal government has been taking the country in a direction that does not match Texas values and the pace has accelerated over the last couple of years. I don't want Texas to be a drag on them any longer. If we get out, they can continue their march toward a socialist/fascist debt ridden utopia without having to worry about dragging Texas along kicking and screaming. In the mean time, we can reestablish the Republic of Texas on the principles of individual liberty, minimal government, rule of law, and honest money. Let the lovers of freedom come here and let the lovers of being controlled go there. That way everyone can have the country that they want.
