ARIZONA UNDER SEIGE; TEA PARTIES RALLY TO HELP

Attorney General Eric Holder tells Congress he hasn't read SB 1070

Arizona is under siege from the liberal left for practicing sovereignty and exercising its constitutional right to enact and enforce its own law. The attack from the left is being led by the Obama administration which apparently has ample time and resources to monitor Arizona lawmakers, but no time to enforce existing immigration law in any U.S. State bordering Mexico.

Just before Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed SB 1070 into law, President Obama said, “Our failure to act responsibly at the Federal level will only open the door to irresponsibility by others. For example the recent efforts in Arizona which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe. “

At this point, the sane and rational among us might have expected the leader of the free world, who is sworn to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America and by extension its laws, to announce that he was going to enforce the laws on the books.

The President began by saying it was a failure at the federal level that was leading Arizona to adopt SB 1070. He admitted it. Wouldn’t we expect a rational and responsible leader to then say he was going to fix it? Maybe so, but not Barack Obama who next said, “In fact, I have instructed members of my administration to closely monitor the situation and examine the civil rights and other implications of this legislation.”

So, we won’t enforce existing law, but we’ll keep an eye on the lawmakers and law enforcement officials enforcing this new law.

The situation has reached a tipping point along the border of the United States and Mexico. The law-abiding citizens of Texas, New Mexico, California and Arizona – regardless of their ethnicity or skin color – have had enough. Border state law abiding citizens had hoped for change and that someone somewhere in the Federal Government would actually enforce the laws already on the books, but it has become abundantly clear over the past 20 years that this was not going to happen.

The Bush administration ignored the growing border issue completely. The Obama administration has chosen instead to lead the charge against the Arizona legislature, the Governor of Arizona and the people of Arizona.

Attorney General Eric Holder is contemplating filing a suit against Arizona.  Presumably because he understands it fully...maybe not.  Keep reading.

From the onset of this new law, the White House has lead an organized attack against the people of Arizona and their attempt to correct a problem created in part by past presidents (Clinton, Bush) and continued by Obama. The White House and liberals across the U.S. have mischaracterized, misquoted and straight up lied about what the Arizona says, what it allows and what law enforcement officials can or can’t do under the law.

President Obama actually said of SB 1070:

“This law that just passed in Arizona is poorly conceived. You can try to make it really tough on people who quote unquote look like they might be illegal immigrants. One of the things that the law says is that local officials are allowed to ask somebody who they have a suspicion might be an illegal immigrant for their papers, but you can imagine if you are an Hispanic-American in Arizona…your great grandparents may have been there even before Arizona was a state…but now suddenly if you don’t have your papers and you took your kid out to get ice cream you’re gonna be harassed. That’s something that could potentially happen.”

This characterization of SB 1070 proves that President Obama –

1) Has never read the law

2) Read it, but can’t understand it

Or

3) Chose to blatantly lie about the letter and spirit of the law for political gain.

Surely, the President wouldn’t be so irresponsible as to speak of a law which he had not personally bothered to read. Right?   Nor would his Attorney General.  Right?

At a house judiciary hearing yesterday, while being questioned by Texas Congressman Ted Poe, AG Eric Holder admitted that he has not even read SB 1070.   Which is only a ten page document.  But the President read it...?

Surely the President who – as we all know is the smartest man who ever lived - understands the law. Right? Therefore, it must be number 3. Right?

President Obama specifically says “if you don’t have your papers.” This is a phrase that harkens back to black & white cloak and dagger movies about Nazis during WWII.

The law in Arizona specifically states that a law enforcement official must have reasonable suspicions before asking for proof of citizenship. There is no wave of police officers patrolling the streets stopping every person of Hispanic decent to ask for “their papers.”

The president’s assertion that such a thing is occurring is intellectually dishonest.

WHAT DO THE PEOPLE THINK?

The answer to that question is, “It depends on who you ask or more importantly who is asking.”

A new poll conducted by the AP and Univision shows that Hispanics, by a 2/3 majority, oppose the new law. The poll was conducted among 901 Hispanic people living throughout the U.S., rather than those who live in Arizona.

Those interviewed were not solely of Mexican descent, but included a broad spectrum of Hispanic ethnicities; this despite the fact that there is no booming illegal entry or residency issue with Puerto Ricans, Hondurans, or even Canadians or Irish for that matter.

In addition to the 901 Hispanics surveyed the poll also asked “Non-Hispanics” about the issue. 45% of Non-Hispanics support SB 1070 and Arizona’s right to govern itself. Only 20% of “Non-Hispanics” oppose the law. 30%, as is typical of polls conducted in the U.S., don’t have a clue or an opinion.

The poll also says 74% of Hispanics believe that the estimated 12 million illegal aliens (although the term “Immigrant” is used in the poll) mostly contribute to American society. However, 60% of those ubiquitous “Non-Hispanics” say illegal aliens are largely a drain on the U.S. economy.

The poll serves the purpose of setting the stage for a “Hispanics Good/White People Bad” argument that is fully embraced by the race-baiting left.

One of the many, many problems with this particular poll is that it surveys people all over the nation and includes many who have no direct knowledge or experience with the illegal alien issue and even those who have never ventured into a state that borders Mexico.

The other glaring problem is that this poll was conducted, in part, by Univision which absolutely has a “horse in this race”; a multi-billion dollar horse.

Univision is comprised of the Univision Network which covers 95% of all U.S. Hispanic television households, TeleFutura Network which covers 85% of all U.S. Hispanic households and Galavision, the leading Spanish-language cable television network reaching 81% of all Hispanic cable households.

Univision Radio is the largest Spanish-language radio group in the U.S. which owns and/or operates 68 radio stations in 16 of the top 25 U.S. Hispanic markets.

Univision has a stranglehold on the Spanish-Speaking television and radio market in the U.S., and that is a market worth billions annually.

The problem for Univision is that 2nd and 3rd generation Hispanics (who learn to speak English) don’t stay with the Spanish-speaking programming offered by Univision.

“Research says that the biggest determining factor on whether an individual will consume TV in English or Spanish is where they were born. Born in the U.S.A., they watch mostly English-language television; born elsewhere, they watch Spanish-language TV,” says Rob Rose, a 20-year TV industry veteran who left his job at Univision to found Artist and Idea Management

Univision has a deeply vested interest in ensuring a high Spanish-speaking population in the U.S., so logically it would be a shock if the Spanish-speaking conglomerate were to be involved in a poll that showed support of SB 1070 from Hispanics. It is far more desirable for Univision to influence the American people with a poll showing disagreement with SB 1070 while at once vilifying whites.

However, a look at another poll conducted among Arizona voters provides very different results.

Rasmussen conducted a poll of Arizona residents, those actually affected by the illegal immigration situation. That poll shows that 70% of Arizona voters favor SB 1070. 23% oppose the bill. Eighty-four percent (84%) of Arizona Republicans and 69% of voters who identify themselves as independents or “not affiliated” with a major party support the legislation.

Even Democrats in Arizona slightly favor the law 51% to 43%.

THE BOYCOTT -

So, as the Obama administration applies its resources to monitoring the lawmakers and law enforcers as opposed to prosecuting the law-breakers (yes, don’t forget in all of this that entering the U.S. without permission is still actually illegal), other liberal groups have decided to attack the already suffering economy of Arizona via boycotts, apparently assuming that causing greater economic turmoil will only impact the white conservatives of the state.

One fine example of liberal boycott hypocrisy came to light this week out of Chicago, where know-it-all academic liberals got caught talking about of both sides of their collective mouths.

The attack against Arizona came in the form of boycotting a girl’s basketball tournament. The Highland Park girls' basketball team had their best season in over 26 years and won an invitation to a prestigious tournament being held in Arizona in December. The girls held bake sales to earn the money to go on the trip. However, in a blatantly political move, the school has forbidden the girls to go to Arizona.

The school’s “brave stance” was not backed up by brave behavior as a media firestorm erupted yesterday, fanned by Sarah Palin in a Chicago area speech. Instead of standing publicly to defend their decision, the school’s Superintendent would only communicate via email, saying:

"We cannot commit at this time to playing at a venue where some of our students' safety or liberty might be placed at risk because of state immigration law."

There are a couple of sad suppositions in the Superintendent’s email:

1) He assumes he has illegal’s on his girls basketball team

a. Does he or doesn’t he?

2) He assumes one or more of those illegal’s on his team will go to Arizona and break a law, or be involved in a situation where a law enforcement official has reasonable suspicion that she is involved in breaking a law – because those are the only ways she could be asked to prove citizenship under the law.

3) The man running this school is completely unable to understand the law, and therefore his own qualifications should be taken into consideration

Or

4) The Superintendent made the decision hoping to make brownie points with the cool-uber liberal parents in and around Chicago, but got pimp-slapped publicly by Sarah Palin for politicizing girls' high school basketball.

By the way, the Superintendent took no issue with his students (the Band) taking a trip to China in 2009. Apparently the human rights violations in China are nowhere near as bad as those cooked up by the legislature of the state of Arizona.

“BUYCOTT” OR “BOYCOTT”

Several Tea Party groups from Arizona, Texas and elsewhere are working together to promote a “Buycott,” encouraging people to support Arizona-based businesses.

The Dallas Tea Party issued a press release which says:

“Arizona is under heavy fire from the left-wing bullies for trying to protect its own citizens from the ravages of illegal immigration. The entire state is being attacked as 'racist,' 'Nazi' and 'extremist.' (Sound familiar?) The left-wing bullies believe they can target, isolate and neutralize Arizona, and thereby pressure the people of Arizona to stop enforcing the law.

“If you agree with the left-wingers, then you should feel free to stay home and go on with your life.

“If, however, you DO support Arizona, we think it's time for all of us to...

“STAND WITH ARIZONA!!!

On Saturday, May 29th, patriots from across the United States will be coming together in Tempe to Stand With Arizona and against the left-wing bullies.”

The movement is called Stand With Arizona, you can visit their websites at StandWithArizona.org.

A message on the website reads in part:

“If you support Arizona's right to pass reasonable laws for the protection of its own citizens, you are hereby invited to JOIN US on May 29th at Diablo Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.

“Arizona needs our support! Will you answer the call?”

Do you stand with Arizona? Do you agree or disagree with the Arizona law? Do you believe the law has been discussed reasonably in the media? Has the law been distorted or presented accurately?

ARIZONA HISPANICS
There are many Arizona Hispanics that support Governor Brewer and SB170.

We see and feel firsthand what the Illegal Alien Invasion has done to our once-nice Hispanic neighborhoods, they turned them into what looks like poor Mexican villages with no signs that are in English. Our property values decrease with every drug and drop house that pops up.

The kidnappers, drug and human smuggling cartels are becoming more evil everyday. We are frightened of them. They are bringing criminals into our neighborhoods. We don't want these illegal aliens living next door to us any more than you want them in your neighborhood.

STOP THE ILLEGAL ALIEN INVASION. BUY ARIZONA GOODS AND SUPPORT ARIZONA.

These illegals are not "immigrants". Federal law defines "alien" to mean a person who is not a citizen or a national of the United States. They are illegal aliens not illegal immigrants.
