STATEMENT BY SHERIFF ARPAIO REGARDING LAWSUIT FILED BY DOJ
The following is an official statement by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio regarding yesterday's lawsuit against his office by the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. for alleged refusal to turn over documents. It is followed by another statement by his Washington D.C. attorney, Bob Driscoll.

"The Obama administration has filed three lawsuits against Arizona in the last few weeks ... one against a college district, one against the state of Arizona and now one against my office. Each lawsuit centers on something to do with alleged racial discrimination.

"These actions make it abundantly clear that Arizona, including this Sheriff, IS Washington's new whipping boy. Now it's time to take the gloves off.

"As for today's lawsuit against my office: These people in Washington met with my attorneys only a few days ago. And in that meeting, Washington got our cooperation; they admitted they already have thousands of pages of the requested documents; and they were given access to interview my staff and get into my jails.

"They smiled in our faces and then stabbed us in the back with this lawsuit. The Obama administration intended to sue us all along, no matter what we did to try to avert it.

"Washington isn't playing fair and it's time Americans everywhere wake up and see this administration for what it really is. Calculating, underhanded at times and certainly not looking out for the best interests of the legal citizens residing in this country. "

STATEMENT OF ROBERT N. DRISCOLL, COUNSEL TO SHERIFF JOSEPH ARPAIO AND THE MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

"Today's lawsuit by the Department of Justice is part of a deliberate media strategy to "get tough" on Sheriff Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and undermine immigration enforcement by a local Sheriff who is trying desperately to make up for this Administration's own indifference to the topic. The DOJ suit speaks loudly by what it does not say. It does not allege that Sheriff Arpaio or the MCSO have discriminated against anyone because the DOJ, after 18 months of soliciting allegations against Sheriff Arpaio, has come up empty. Even
the purported basis for the suit, which alleges a lack of "cooperation," is a sham. In fact, after meeting with the DOl last week, just last Friday, on behalf of MCSO, informed the DOJ that MCSO would cooperate with all reasonable document requests and would schedule tours of MCSO facilities and interviews with senior MCSO command staff. We were awaiting a  response from DOJ, and this lawsuit is apparently it. Clearly DOJ is more interested filing its third lawsuit in as many weeks against Arizona defendants than in looking into the allegations that purportedly gave rise to its investigation. This lawsuit is nothing more than an attempt to obscure the fact that DOJ still has no case. Today's suit over documents does not change that."

Dear Wall Across Canada...
...and all liberals. I would love to hear your solutions for the issue of illegal immigration, violence in our border states that is caused by illegals, and so on.

First, your statement of not about worrying about "Mexican immigrants who only do jobs jobs that Americans won't do" is as tired and over-used as your ridiculous cries of racism. It is also demeaning to all Mexican-Americans. There is NO ISSUE in our border states (where I live) with Mexican Immigrants. The issue is with "illegal" immigrants. Why are you liberal unable to distinguish between the two? I assure you "LEGAL" Mexican Immigrants DO make that distinction.

MEMO to liberals you've used the "Racist" tag so much and for so many reasons that it doesn't matter any longer you've saturated society with it to a point that everyone tunes out - especially us independents.

How can enforcing the law be "racist". You shoot off your mouth with absolutely no proof, no documentation and no first-hand knowledge of that which you speak.

I'm blond-haired and blue-eyed and if I get pulled over by an officer of the law for speeding the first thing I must do is provide my ID. If the officer who stops me for speeding is black, or hispanic or asian should I start screaming "RACIST"? Would you.

The horrible dreaded Arizona law states specifically that a police office can only ask for identification IF the person in question has broken the law first.

It is an absolute lie to characterize the law in any other way. Speed. Get pulled over. The cop asks for an ID. If I get pulled over - that's all okay. However, if someone of Hispanic descent is asked the same question it's "RACISM"!

NO! It is not. It's obeying the law.

We are to have equal laws, not special laws for special groups.

Wall across Canada
When is the sherrif going to stop cars with Canada plates? Everyone knows al the terrorists come across from Canada, yet there are numerous cars with Canadian plates in Phoenix. What is wrong with this man? Instead of worrying about Mexican immigrants who will only do jobs that Ameicans will not do, why doesn't he go after the real criminals? Is it because he is afraid, or does not know how to get the real criminals? Or is he just another bigot who needs to find Christianity? Most so called right wing Christians do not practice Christianity. Obviously the sherrif is another one of those people. We should build a wall around Arizona and let them go back to Mexico. Their politicians and elected officials are not Americans and do not follow the Constitution.

Does the government not have enough to do?
This story makes me SO mad! Why are they picking on Arizona for enforcing laws that they are supposed to be enforcing? Since when are the cops (and Gov. Brewer) the bad guys?
