12 confirmed dead, 31 wounded following a mass shooting at Fort Hood Army Post near Killeen, Texas. Lt. General Robert W. Cone has confirmed 12 people are dead and 31 have been wounded after three gunmen opened fire today at Fort Hood.
General Cone also confirms that among the dead is the man the General referred to as, “the primary gunman”. General Cone says the other two “shooters” are now in custody and he confirms that all three are U.S. Military personnel.
It has also been confirmed that one of the 12 dead was a “civilian” police officer working under contract at Fort Hood.
All 31 of the wounded have been confirmed as adults. Fort Hood, the largest military installation in the world, houses nine schools and there was immediate concern for the safety of the children.
Fort Hood, which currently has a military population of over 30,000 people was officially on “lock down” for several hours following the shooting as MP’s and other law enforcement personnel apprehended the two suspects and worked to confirm that order had been restored.
No other details are available at this time.
Our prayers go out to everyone at Fort Hood; the military personnel and their families, and all civilian employees and their families.
