ARAB AMERICANS FIGHTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Ann Arbor, MI – “80% of the victims of human trafficking are females, and 50% are children,” said Josephine Nicholas, who, together with three of her siblings, is a successful local Arab-American entrepreneur, founding several companies; as well as the charity event group called Party with a Purpose (PWAP).

“My siblings and I decided to turn our family’s Annual After New Year’s party into a fundraising event for Free to be Kids, an organization that has positively changed the lives of thousands of children sold into human trafficking,” continued Josephine. “We are proud of the large number of our Arab-American friends who are supporting this PWAP, through donations and confirmed attendance,” continued Josephine.

“Helping out women and children is a cause very close to any Arab-American heart, and we have the largest population of Arab-Americans outside of the Middle East right here in Michigan,” said Josephine.

Free to be Kids is a not-for profit humanitarian aid organization that works to rescue, shelter and set free children who are facing extreme situations of abuse and exploitation around the world.

ANYP/PWAP Extravaganza of 2010 will be held on Friday, January 1st and begins at 6pm. Attractions included American, Arabic, and Latin dancing, Hors D’oeuvres, refreshments, and dinner graciously contributed by Ronnie Berry Meats, and Olive Garden (on Eisenhower Rd. in Ann Arbor.) The party will be hosted at the Ann Arbor residence of the Nicholas Family. Entrance fee is $20, and all proceeds go directly to Free to be Kids.

“Everyone is welcome to come enjoy an evening of incomparable fun while donating to this very worthy cause,” said Josephine. “We hope people bring their family and friends that are in for the holidays, and participate in this noble and charitable cause. As young Arab-American professionals, we are anxious to make this event a huge success so that we can help as many children as possible,” said Josephine.
