GAGA'S SWEET POTATOES

These are the one's that everyone in the family says are a must have for all Holiday meals, from Easter to Christmas and everything in between, we think of any reason possible to serve "Gaga's Sweet Potatoes".  Gaga is what my son calls my mother, his grandmother, and her sweet potatoes are the big crowd pleaser.  We'd be better off forgetting the turkey on Thanksgiving than to show up without these sweet delights.

Ingredients:

5 baked sweet potatoes

1 large can of Sugary Sam sweet potatoes

1 small can crushed pineapple, drained

1/2 stick butter

1 egg

Milk, to desired consistency

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 tsp. Nutmeg

1 tsp. Vanilla

1 tsp. Cinammon

Marshmallows

Bake sweet potatoes and empty from the skins.  Add can sweet potatoes, pineapple, milk, butter, egg, brown sugar and spices and mash all together.  Transfer to glass dish and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.  Add marshmallows to cover and cook until marshmallows are bubbly and golden brown, about 5 minutes.

This is our family's favorite side dish at Thanksgiving and is more like a dessert than a vegetable.  Enjoy!

We make these too! We call them Nana's Orange Cups
However, we don't add an egg, but we do add some orange juice. We put the yam mixture into scooped out orange halves and top with marshmallows before baking in a glass dish. The kids LOVE the cute sweet potato orange cups for T-giving.
