Teams are part of almost all organizations. Owners are parts of a regional team, employees are part of everything from process to cross functional teams. The great thing about teams is they are varied people with a wide array of experience, talent, and drive. The problem with teams is the politics and egos. When choosing a team make sure you have an extremely well defined goal, make sure everyone knows what they are trying to do.
Insure a leader is appointed, it is better if you appoint them. A leader needs to be chosen for their ability to complete the task not by popularity. Then you must delegate the authority along with the task, a team that must report every detail can get nothing done. Once you have chosen a great team, selected a solid leader given them the authority and instruction remove the last obstacle…YOU. You should receive reports weekly or as often as need to keep you informed but unless the task looks as if it will not be complete stay out of their way. If you have chosen wisely have the confidence that they will succeed.
“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” -Theodore Roosevelt
“Appreciate everything your associates do for the business. Nothing else can quite substitute for a few well-chosen, well-timed, sincere words of praise. They're absolutely free and worth a fortune.” - Sam Walton
(MSG)Nehemiah 2:17-18 Then I gave them my report: "Face it: we're in a bad way here. Jerusalem is a wreck; its gates are burned up. Come—let's build the wall of Jerusalem and not live with this disgrace any longer." I told them how God was supporting me and how the king was backing me up. They said, "We're with you. Let's get started." They rolled up their sleeves, ready for the good work.
(MSG) Romans 16:3-5 -5Say hello to Priscilla and Aquila, who have worked hand in hand with me in serving Jesus. They once put their lives on the line for me. And I'm not the only one grateful to them. All the non-Jewish gatherings of believers also owe them plenty, to say nothing of the church that meets in their house.
