HONESTY

We all know honesty is the key to any relationship. To show dishonesty in business dealing is not only immoral but illegal. Aside from the moral and legal issues it is simply bad for business. Every business has its reputation following it good or bad. When clients hear of dishonesty you can bet they will not be clients for long. Of course we know this, the more likely danger for my readers is the possibility that you might lie to yourself.

When times are good we take credit, when bad we might try and assign blame. If you take credit or assign blame without carefully considering the true cause of each you might well be lying to yourself and destroying company morale. Beware that you are truthful when it comes to your own capabilities. If you down play your strengths you will miss opportunities. If you fail to recognize you weakness you risk having them derail a success in the making. In short be honest in your dealings with others, but perhaps even more important be honest with yourself.

”Honesty is the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist.”                                   --Mary Kay Ash

”The highest compact we can make with our fellow is, - 'Let there be truth between us two forever more.'"
--Ralph Waldo Emerson

Exodus 18:21
21 "But choose men of ability from all of the people. They must have respect for God. You must be able to trust them. They must not try to get money by cheating others. Appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

Deuteronomy 16:19
19 Do what is right. Treat everyone the same. Don't take money from people who want special favors. It makes those who are wise close their eyes to the truth. It twists the words of those who do what is right.

Deuteronomy 16:20
20 Follow only what is right. If you do, you will live. You will take over the land the Lord your God is giving you.

2 Samuel 22:21
21 "The Lord has been good to me because I do what is right. He has rewarded me because I lead a pure life.
