WRITE IT DOWN
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I can remember starting a new job, several years ago. I was going to work for the new mayor of my home town of McCrory, Arkansas. We talked over the telephone a few days before I started and he said, “My first assignment for you starts now. I want you to take a notebook and write down several things that you would like to see happen within the city.”

I took a small notepad and jotted down about ten things I would really love to see take place around town and brought it with me on my first day at work.

The mayor read over my goals and said, “Okay, lets go to work on them.” He also had a list and we went to work on those as well.

Within a few months, I looked at the notepad and noticed all the goals had been met. I was pretty excited about this and showed it to the mayor. “Good job!” he said, “Now, write down some more.” I did, and continued to do so throughout my years at the job.

When I was getting ready to move on to a different job, I was going through my things and ran across several of the note pads. I thumbed through them and said, “Wow!” Everything I had written down, had come to pass. Not one thing was left undone, which brought me to this realization - If you write it down and go to work on it, it will almost always become a reality.

This weekend I was taking my daughter, my niece and one of their friends to theatre practice. I was getting a kick out of listening to them talk in the backseat of the car. Even thought they range from ages 6 - 8, you would think you were listening to a group of teenage girls chatting away. They were talking about their goals and how famous they are going to be one day.

I said, “ Hey ‘Superstars,’ would you like for me to tell you a secret for reaching your goals?” Of course they leaned up towards me and said they did. “Write them down,” I said. “If you write it down, it will almost always happen.” This got their gears to turning and they were making plans of a notebook a piece when they got home. They were really serious about it. I even heard them explaining the method to some grown ups later that night, who listened with interest as well.

On the way back home from practice, which by the way, they are doing the Witch doctor song from Alvin and the Chipmunks, I asked them to take their witch doctor masks and sign their name on the back of them. I told them when they reached their goals, they would be worth a lot of money one day. As dedicated as they are right now, I’m sure they’ll reach every one of them too.

The “Superstars” talked all the way home about how much their masks would go for on Ebay. So, if you’re in the market for one of the masks in the future, I think the lowest bid was 1.5 million US currency. Lol.

All for now friends. Write it down and make it happen. It really works!
