For several weeks now, I have tried to complete this article for the Cypress Times Online Newspaper but just couldn't. Repeatedly, I have gone back to it with the same determination but always 'felt' there is so much more I want to say. Herewith, I will try to give you an overview of ‘Who’ and ‘What’ I am and what has driven me to make the 'announcement' back around August 1st. of 2009.
First of all, I am in this position because of the love of God and country. My faith in God has always been important to me and the love of my country has always been one of the motivating factors prompting me to do whatever I have done.
With the “approval of Congress” and its leaders at an all-time low, “Why,” you would ask, “would anyone want to be a part of them?” Believe me, I have asked myself that very question before. But, because of ‘Who’ I am, and ‘What’ I am, I can no longer “stand on the sidelines” viewing what is happening to America and not become ‘involved’ in a greater way in circumventing the erosion of our conservative American values. For years we have seen our elected ones go off to our state and National capitals and had the “feeling” that just maybe we helped elect someone who will fairly and honestly represent us well with sound judgment and plain common sense. I think you will agree with me that we have been “disappointed” in them over and over – again, and again.
Far too long have many of us been complacent, and pleased, to just allow ‘someone else’ to handle the political matters that face our country. We have been wrong in doing that!
Do you now see where that attitude has gotten us?
We have heard all the political jargon, all the campaign promises, and have seen all the political sutra for years. We are NOT impressed!
America is no longer “standing at the crossroads” of decision-making – wondering which way we ought to go. We are standing near the edge of an abyss, and there are those among us who are trying to push the entire nation over that cliff into an oblivion of chaos, confusion, and an eternity from which there will be no return. If we continue down that path you will have no values, no freedom and NO liberty whatsoever.
I think I know you and I know how you feel – and, as well, I think you know me! You know that the present course is one of danger and destruction. You and I both know that the documents which have held us together for more than 233 years have been abused, ridiculed, violated and cast aside with dishonor.
We have seen the continual growing of a federal government to the point of political pride and arrogance, with the thought that ‘They are over us,’ when really, according to our Constitution and Declaration of Independence, “We the people” created the very government they are in service of.
We have seen mountains of money thrown toward an educational system which has become Godless, fruitless, and secondary to others around the world. A few complain when we want our children to have a moment of silence or prayer in the classroom, or at a sports function, and they further complain when we all want to stand placing our hand over our hearts in allegiance to a battle flag that has flown over a free land, and for a free people, in honor of those wounded in battle, and for those who gave their utmost to guarantee the very freedoms we all enjoy.
We have all seen the bailouts, the false stimulus programs, the political pollution, the constant “throwing” of trillions of dollars at the problems which have been caused by Congress itself.
We have all seen:
-deception and lies
-political Pollution
-deficit spending
-out-of-control budgets
-Socialist ideology
-the erosion of our Freedoms
The deception must stop! The growth of government, the pollution and the waste must come to an end immediately! But it won’t unless we elect a ‘New Breed’ of people all across this nation. In every Congressional district all across America I hope and I pray that there will be honest, truthful men and women who will arise and run for Office and become that “New Breed” of people with character, principle, wisdom and common sense to turn us around before it’s too late.
America is a great country. Its people are a great people. The best stimulus for America today is to reduce all taxation, trim all budgets making them ‘lean, mean and green,’ stop the wild, crazy regulations upon the people, and allow the American people to be the innovative people that we are.
If we give our people the opportunity – and STOP growing the size of government and let the private sector grow, we will create the jobs needed, and necessary, for the prosperity of this nation and its people.
Government never creates jobs! Government, especially the Congress, can only create an environment for the economy –positively, or negatively. Lately, it has been Congress who has created the bad environment for our economy. Take a look around you and you will see the “results.”
The “meltdown” in the Fall of 2008, was caused by bad policies and bad decisions by the United States Congress. It was TOTALLY the 'fault' of Congress and a 'timid' administration who almost brought on a world-wide economic 'meltdown.'
We are all asking, “Where is the leadership?” “Where are the Winston Churchills? Where are the Ronald Reagans of our day? Where is the common sense?” “Where is the accountability?”
You have my word, and I make this 'confession' openly and publicly, that if elected as a Congressman for District 30, I will have NO misplaced priorities. The following have always been important to me: Faith, family, freedom, food, fun, friends, fellowship, flags and flowers.
Topping that list are three institutions which will never be compromised by me: Faith, family and freedom.
In this campaign I will positively enforce those traditional institutions with fervor and commitment. I will seek to build around them a positive message of loyalty and principle. It is the spiritual and basic tenets of faith, family and freedom that have shaped the very life, worldview, and even political beliefs of our faith-filled people here in America. I won’t ever change there, although I know that I must be “open” to maturity and discipline. When I was a child I was taught the truth about America and how our nation began and the principles we were founded upon. There is no contradiction whatsoever between my inner life of faith and the view of our heritage as “one nation under God.”
Yes, we do need change – but “change” is only good if you don’t forsake the old patterns. “Change” is good if it brings forth a maturity in you for the good of all others involved. “Change” is good if it ‘seasons’ you. “Change” is good if it brings to pass fruit, peace and prosperity to all, and not to just a few.
But it isn’t all about “Change!” It’s about Direction!!
And, that will be the defining heart-cry of our campaign: ‘It isn’t all about Change…….
It’s about Direction!’
And so, I say to the Feds, “Let my people Go!”
“Let my people Know!”
“Let my people Grow!”
We are living on the edge of an abyss, and we are being “pulled” into that abyss fast and furiously. No wonder the majority of the people are resisting a Congress which is “out-of- control!” No wonder we are teetering on the edge of a nation-wide rebellion!
I will tell you here and now that I am not running to oppose any man or woman. I am running to propose new policies, a new and better course for this nation, and a New ‘Direction’ for the people:
A “government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
Seeing wrong and Trying to make it Right!
Wisdom, compassion, and a feeling of justice for those who still
suffer in our country.
We WON’T “stand on the sidelines” anymore…We Can’t!!!! We’ve got to “get into the Game!”
It’s past time to Wake up!
It’s past time to Rise up!
It’s past time to Stand up and be Counted!
It’s past time to be accountable!
And so, my family and friends—as in the words of Robert F. Kennedy and George Bernard Shaw:
“Some men see things that never were and say, ‘Why?’
"I dream things that never were and say, Why not?”
