WILL IS EVERYTHING!

We did not start this fight, the far left, the elitists in and out of America started this fight. We must finish it. America is at war with enemies from within. These enemies understand that this is war and have been fighting that way for years. Constitutional and conservative Americans are just beginning to awaken to the fact that we are under attack. We cannot view this as politics as usual. We must see this for what it is, war. At the end of any war, there are three types of people left, winners, losers and the dead. As Pat Dollard has said, “Defeat, surrender, compromise are no longer options. Our enemy seeks the destruction of our culture and our ultimate subjugation. We must thus seek to utterly destroy their system, lest they do the same to us”.

Both sides in this war have ample means with which to combat the other. The real issue is who has the will to win? Will is everything in a fight. If we fail to act with iron will, with decisiveness, to take this battle to its very end and stand ever vigilant afterwards, we will surely lose and that loss will be more than our country, our liberty and our freedom, it will mean the loss of our lives and our future. There can be no compromise. How do you give up some of your freedom? You are either a free and sovereign individual or you are someone’s slave. I choose to be free. Compromise is the path to defeat. Some among us will seek that path, offering up that ‘it isn’t that bad’ or ‘we manage with this’. Let them go. They are dead weight in the fight for freedom. They lack the will and courage to see the fight through to the end.

We have reached the point in this fight where we have the enemies on their heals. Obama summoned his union minions and then went to Marxist Vineyards for vacation. The enemy has begun to attack themselves and use the vaunted state run media to disseminate the message. We must go on the offensive. The left believes they are in control. They are not. We must take the offensive and attack. We must protest. We must call, write, fax and email the enemy demanding action. No one on the defensive has ever won a war. We must not be distracted by new legislation or actions from the left. We must strike back on the issues. We must make the enemy react to us, be it calls, letters, emails, faxes or protests.

Pat Dollard is right, “Drive back against the creeping usurpations of the last century. Strike at things that have become assumptions of society and politics. Push them out of their comfort zone. They have no difficulty doing it to us. Forget the status quo. Push, and when you feel them start to give, push harder”. Labor day weekend bury them in faxes and emails, so when they arrive Tuesday September 8th, they are inundated with our demands. On Tuesday, we must melt the phone lines to our representatives, senators and the White House. We also mail our letters that day. September 9th is another day of faxing and emailing these very same knuckleheads. September 10th is another day of melting the phone lines. September 11th is the blitz.

Here is your battle plan:

Labor Day Weekend: Faxes and emails each day. One fax/one email per day, per issue, cap & trade and health care are the issues.

September 8th: Phone calls, all day. Call once for health care and call again for cap and trade.

September 9th: Mail your letters. Fax and email the list of questions Glenn Beck has asked this week, demanding answers.

September 10th:  Melt the phone lines calling to demand answers to the questions you sent in on the 9th. Make them write down each question.

September 11th:  The Blitz. Call, fax and email all of the issues again to Congress and the White House (all three issues: cap & trade, health care, and the questions), this time demanding to know why they haven’t responded.  Contact your local TV stations and radio stations demanding to know why they aren’t covering the fact that Congress and the White House are not responding to the people.

September 12th:  Street action. The march on DC, the march on state capitols, march on whatever you have that represents government in your town or city.

September 13th:  Faxes and emails to all of Congress & the White House on all issues.

This is how we divert their attention and put them on the defensive, a non-stop, never ending barrage of munitions, in the form of faxes, emails, calls and protests. This is how the Marxists came at us. They did not go for our heart, they went for our soul, over time. To stop them, we must kill their will to push on. We are almost there. We all do this for love of country. They have to pay their protestors.

We must protest the state run media too.

Our message to the American people must be that dependence upon the government is slavery. Submission to the government is our death; death of our will, our freedom and of us. You have been taught to present yourself in such a way that you are not feared. Bull! Stand tall. They must fear us, the government must fear the people, lest the government swallow the people whole. I was once asked by a combatant, “would you rather be loved or feared?” I never revealed the answer to him, but truth be known, I would rather be feared. Love is fleeting. Fear is forever. Our enemy wants to be loved and that is their weakness.

We must instill in our families, friends, neighbors and co-workers the desire to be free. Tyranny will not be tolerated. Taking handouts is shameful. Independence is to be admired. Freedom is to be demanded. Liberty is to be protected at all costs. We must take the fight to them and when they say, “We aren’t at war”, “Why can’t we just get along?” and “Aren’t you just being a hater, a radical, a racist?”, let them know, “You declared war on America”, “You chose to not get along and adhere to the Constitution” and “That must make you a hateful, racist, radical, given your actions, right?” Never surrender.

I've never even read Saul Alinsky.
And my analysis of contemporary echoes of fascism was something you seem unfamiliar with: a balanced argument, giving a fair shake to both perspectives. No wonder you didn't recognize it, and thought it supported you! :-)

You don't seem really to have the ability to distinguish between and evaluate sources of different quality. To you, a high-quality source is a conservative one, and a low-quality source is a liberal one, and that's all there is to it.

Of course, by that light, Goldberg's book would be high-quality, because it is a conservative polemic. But that's not how fair-minded historians evaluate sources.

This problem has come up in your previous articles, where you cite only to other conservative bloggers, using an echo chamber of similar unsourced opinions by similar people to lend what you write a veneer of legitimacy.

I'm sure that most people are fully able to understand the difference, so the following is for their benefit rather than yours.

Goldberg's book is a polemic that tries to attribute a word that most people accept as bad ("fascism"), to various things American liberals have done.

That is a very different project from what a scholar of fascism like Griffin sets out to do. In his "Fascism", Griffin takes original documents from fascist movements and tries to identify the common links between them.

Goldberg's aim is to make a partisan point about contemporary, specifically American politics. Scholars of fascism are interested in understanding more about fascism itself, whether or not it translates easily to contemporary politics.

Most historians of the period would argue that the National Socialist German Workers' Party (abbreviated to "NSDAP" or "Nazis"), were perceived at the time and used by conservative elites as a violent, proletarian right-wing force that could counter the real risk of communist revolution. The modern equivalent might be a mob incited by radio to violence against people of other ethnic groups or political opinions, as happened in Rwanda in 1994.

The NSDAP, through its paramilitary Sturmabteilung wing, gained credibility with the landed aristocracy and the captains of industry by violently breaking up communist meetings. After Hitler's abortive coup in Bavaria in 1923, he was given a much lighter sentence than were the plotters who briefly set up a Bavarian communist republic in 1919, precisely because the conservative, anti-communist and anti-Semitic views of the Bavarian judiciary made Hitler seem less of a threat than the communists.

Hitler actively pursued alliances with landed interests, with the Catholic church and with business interests in order to gain legitimacy, selling his party as the best way to prevent a communist takeover of Germany.

In 1934, he purged Ernst Rohm from his party (the head of the Sturmabteilung), because Rohm wished to lead the party in a more socialist direction. Hitler wanted to lead the NSDAP in a more nationalistic direction, and sold the idea of greater state control over industry to the business interests by promising that, as had happened in Italy, corporate interests would control the state and there would be no meaningful regulation of their activities. (Look up the theory of "the corporate state" for more information on this.)

This does not mean that the conservative forces in German society in the 1920s and 1930s were the same as the Nazis. It does not mean that they are the same as the conservative forces in American society today.

What it does mean is that it is less accurate to speak of Hitler as a left-winger than as a right-winger, because without a shred of doubt he was perceived as a right-winger at the time, both domestically and internationally.

The people in the US who sympathized with Hitler were not the communists. Those people were frantically arguing for US involvement in the Spanish Civil War to thwart the Nazis, or in the case of Roosevelt for involvement in the Second World War against him. No, the people in public life in America who most supported Hitler before World War II, and opposed US involvement against the Nazis, were usually right-wing people like Henry Ford, Father Charles Coughlin, and Charles Lindbergh. Oh, there were Democrats who sympathized with their racial policies - Joseph Kennedy, for one, was stridently anti-Semitic - because racism was common to both parties. But the Democrats on the whole were more supportive of war against Hitler than the Republicans were.

The Soviet leaders did not see Hitler as a kindred spirit: when fascism arose, they argued that fascism was the last gasp of reactionary capitalism, not a form of any communism they could recognize. Historians, of course, recognize in hindsight the commonalities between them expressed by the term "totalitarianism", but that term doesn't render fascism the same thing as communism, or communism the same thing as fascism.

Goldberg never, to my knowledge, asserts anything to contradict any of these points.

As my argument notes, you can draw parallels from isolated parts of the program of different fascist parties to parts of the programs of modern American political parties; but simply to identify the one with the other is ahistorical and contemptible.

For what it's worth, I'm sure that your use of the same terminology of the Will (das Willens) that Hitler used was unintentional. Perhaps, though, you should work a little harder to understand what fascism was, and what fascist arguments sounded like, before you throw the word around like you do and run the risk of sounding a whole lot like they did.

It's your perfect right to sound foolish, but I don't actually want you to sound as foolish as you just did.

Just because you do not like what Goldberg says, because it is counter to your sheltered, communist world, does not mean you can just dismiss it.

As for the facts that you choose to use as a cloak of insults, those are right out of your manual, the liberal play book, rules for radicals.

Your rebuttal below is full of elements from rules for radicals. Distract, question, do not deal with the issues, and above all try and change the subject.

Progressives, liberals, whatever you choose to call them are the new fascism...the smily faced fascism of encroachment on liberty by nudging ones liberties away with lawa that are supposed to be for the greater good.

Your argument against liberals being fascist makes my point better than I did.

Mr. Turner, it does not twist reality to state that you call for a coup, just because you call for a coup in a thread other than this. Don't be ridiculous.

The only way to recover is to remove the tyrants from power, sweep the Congress free existing politicians, and remove all appointed justices on the supreme court, who do not use the Constitution as their road map for justice.

You cannot remove Obama from power Constitutionally other than by elections or impeachment. You can remove Congressional politicians Constitutionally only a third at a time (in the case of the Senate), and you have no plausible hope at the ballot box of removing all Democrats. Appointments to the Supreme Court are for life. So exactly what method, other than a coup, are you proposing to achieve what you outline above?

Have you apologized to me for calling me a Marxist, a communist, a supporter of genocide, a supporter of the killing fields? No. Presumably you think it was perfectly valid and fair to call me such things. I ask once again, what rule are you using to make your insults acceptable and my likening of your rhetoric to Hitler's unacceptable? Explain the rule to me, and then I will understand what I should apologize to you for.

I am not a citizen. I am a green card holder, and I will be eligible for citizenship in 2011.

[Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Fascism] is widely accepted for its accuracy and aside from upsetting the left, no one has been able to disprove the facts raised in it.

If you are seriously interested in discussing fascism, I am willing to do it.

My problem with Jonah Goldberg's thesis, as opposed to more serious theorists of fascism like Roger Griffin, is that he is very vague about what fascism is. He seems to define it as any systematic use of state power by a Democrat. He does not examine at all use of state power by Republicans to achieve ends important to them, and therefore simply assumes that no use of state power by a Republican can resemble fascism. He also does not explore what systematic uses of state power do not resemble fascism. In these ways, then, I view his book as pushing an agenda, rather than a serious and open-minded study. Let's try and have a better discussion than he manages to have.

Having read a fair amount of fascist literature, including Mein Kampf and the Fascist Quarterly published by the British Union of Fascists, it is clear that there are a couple of points on which fascists would be more likely to agree with modern-day Democrats than with Republicans. Fascists seem to have had concerns that (white) poor people could not afford to have a nutritionally balanced diet. Some prominent fascists, including Hitler himself, were vegetarian and believed in strong regulation of our treatment of animals. I suspect that a modern equivalent of Hitler's National Socialists would be very supportive of, say, organic farming and regulating the content and provenance of food.

On the other hand, fascists had points that make them more similar to modern-day Republicans than Democrats. They believed in the right, unconstrained by international law, for their own nation to impose its Will by violence on other nations. They favored strong curbs on immigration to preserve their nation's heritage. They were loudly opposed to communism. They believed in a notion of a pure tradition of their nation, which had been corrupted to a critical point by foreign and internal enemies and which had to be purged and renewed (Griffin calls this "palingenetic ultra-nationalism"). They railed against the degeneracy of modern art and of modern movies, viewing them as corrupting the young. They had particularly strong views on appropriate gender roles: Women were fit only for "Kinder, Kueche, Kirche" (kids, cake-making and church). In these respects, fascists seem like a more extreme version of Republicans rather than a more extreme version of Democrats.

I will be happy in my next post to chart out the many ways that Democrats and Republicans differ from fascists.

You are pathetic
You wrote:

Not in this piece, no.

But elsewhere, in your rant "Slavery: It Is Here Again", you write:

Our political parties have sold us into slavery, to the national debt and the only way to recover is to remove the tyrants from power, sweep the Congress free existing politicians, and remove all appointed justices on the supreme court, who do not use the Constitution as their road map for justice. Failure to do this shall result in liberals and conservatives alike becoming one, slaves for the ruling class."

This is an explicit repudiation of Coonstitutional methods for electing officials that can be accomplished only by force. So, I'll knock off accusing you of encouraging a coup when, and only when, you stop encouraging one.

Allow me to rebut: Your comments were about this piece, so to bring up issues from other posts, in this post is silly at best and typical liberal twisting of reality for sure. Even your argument regarding the statement from the other post calling for a coup is weak and pathetic. Nowhere is there a call for a coup. There is a call to remove the politicians from Congress. There is a call to remove the justices from the Supreme Court, who do not follow the Constitution. There is not a call for a coup.

Once again, you have stated I advocate violence, when I haven't and you have failed to apologize for calling me a nazi.

And, yes, I choose to meet you head on with the attacks you spew. Most conservatives ignore it from liberals and it has allowed liberals to gain the power they have. Conservatives need to call mindless liberalism whenever they see it. On that note: Your calling Goldbergs book a useless little screed is amazing. It is a best selling book. It is widely accepted for its accuracy and aside from upsetting the left, no one has been able to disprove the facts raised in it. Once again you have fallen back on your pathetic, little, weak, name calling, when the facts show a reality different from the one you try to paint.

I reaffirm that although you are a citizen, you will never be an American, until you understand the Constitution and truly love and appreciate the freedoms you have here, freedoms not awarded citizens in other countries. Oh, and I await your apology on the nazi issue, as well as an explanation as to why you would reference something from another article, and use it here....oh that's right....you didn't have and don't have any facts to stand on, just your weak and incorrect opinion. Such a little man. I am sorry for you, your wife and your family. So sad.

You can encourage your House representative to support impeachment if you wish.

You know, it's really quite amusing. You gleefully tell me that I'm a communist and a supporter of dictators and killing fields and ask me if I was dropped on my head as a baby. Then, the moment a similar accusation comes your way, you say that I "choose to hurl insults and insinuations of Nazism and racism, rather than address the ideas." That is exactly the tactic you have chosen to adopt, ranting about my (nonexistent) support of dictators rather than rationally addressing my points.

Again I ask: What is the rule by which your conduct is acceptable and mine is not?

The only rule you appear to be using is that it's OK for you to hurl insults about communists and Nazis and killing fields and Obama being the Fuhrer because you're a conservative and that makes it OK. Not too convincing.

As for Goldberg's useless little screed, I have read a great deal of what actual scholars of fascism (rather than newspaper columnists with a shaky grasp of history and an axe to grind) have to say. I suspect that I know a great deal more about that period than you do, and I'm very ready to have that discussion.

A Few More Things Zander....
Coup? Where the heck did you get that idea from? Nowhere in this piece is there a call for a coup.

Impeachment? That is an activity for the House of Representatives.

Petition For Redress Of Grievances: That is for citizens. Of course, Congress and POTUS will not respond, so we can then convene citizen grand juries at the district level and have them removed from office for violating their oath.

Knock of the coup talk. This war will be won with the pen and the will of the American people.

Not being American, you will never understand.

The Church of Liberalism At It's Finest
Zander, if you truly understood Hitler and the National Socialist Party in Germany, you would know that the facism that Hitler graced Germany with is the same facism Obama graces America with. Hitler wanted to control diet, the environment and his first act of leadership was to dictate how to cook lobster, so it suffered the least.

You see Zander, despite the lefts name calling and beligerent belittling of those who dare challenge them (see your written example below), they are the facists (Read Liberal Facism). You took a page right out of the Liberal Bible, Rules For Radicals, and began the belittling and name calling. Throughout history it is the left that has created class warfare through the use of the education system, welfare, and abortion.

It is weak and pathetic that you choose to hurl insults and insinuations of Nazism and racism, rather than address the ideas. I was going to suggest that we write a 'point/counter piece' together. No more. I have lost all respect for you with this batch of name calling. I though considering having my attorney contact you regarding your likening me to Hitler. You see, free speech comes with responsibility.

You might be a citizen of this country, but you will never be an American, not as long as you have disdain and dislike for the document this great nation was founded on. Your recent comment disgusts me and is inexcusable. You owe every reader an apology for your insult.

Tell me...
...when did you disapprove of the sentiments he expressed? - when you were reading it, or when you read who said it?

Not that I suppose you care one whit, but not one of the czars you have listed has a criminal record. One, Van Jones (whom I note you are still trying to identify with the record of domestic terrorist Jeff Jones) was arrested after a protest at the Rodney King verdict, spent the night in jail, and was released without charge. So it is, once again, not a "FACT!", but a lie, that Obama has made czars out of criminals.

On communism, Jones appears to have once been a communist as a young man, and to have since renounced communism. You're entitled to believe that renunciation, or not, but if you don't, please provide some evidence of his continued communist beliefs. Again, not a "FACT!".

Aside from him, the evidence you yourself have provided show no evidence that any of his czars, at any time, harbored "Marxist" beliefs. None of them are "convicted felons". None of them are "former domestic terrorists" (there's that Jeff Jones again).

I do not call people who oppose Obama Nazis by virtue of their opposition. I am calling out your personal rhetoric of the Will as being curiously similar to Hitler's, especially in view of your stated support of a coup to overthrow the constitutionally elected President of the United States.

You can hardly condemn such a criticism without also condemning your own explicit calling of me a supporter of genocide and an apologist for the killing fields. Shall we agree that both are unacceptable, or neither?

I shall be interested to see how you manage to assert that your unfounded insults are acceptable, whereas what I say below is not! After all, I have not personally murdered hundreds of thousands of intellectuals and imposed a nonsensical agrarian communism of a nation of nine million, as Pol Pot did...

Nice, Now Anyone Who Opposes Obama's Destruction of our Constitution is a Nazi!
That didn't take long did it. We're all Nazi's. Dear Zander, when you see me put millions of people into ovens then you can call me a Nazi. Until then, you're way out of line. This propensity that people have for calling everyone they disagree with a Nazi is ridiculous and it needs to stop on both sides. Obama is a liar who has no regard for this nation or its people. He has surrounded himself with liars and criminals - FACT!!! Please dispute that fact, Zander. Look at the records of the people in Obama's administration. Fact! They are communists, Marxists, convicted felons and former domestic terrorists. Prove me wrong - using facts - not liberal fantasty. HOWEVER, they are not Nazis. Nor are any of the good decent people in this nation who oppose Obama. Stooping to such a low level to call senior citizens who show up at town halls to protest Nazi's is wrong. It's low and hateful. Calling people who disagree politically with Obama, Pelosi and Reid Nazi's does a dishonor to you and everyone who shares your beliefs. It's frankly pathetic.

A kindred spirit, Mr. Turner?
"More than nine months have passed since the unhappy day when the American people, blinded by promises from foes at home and abroad, lost touch with honor and freedom, thereby losing all.

Since that day of treachery, the Almighty has withheld his blessing from our people. Dissension and hatred descended upon us. With profound distress millions of the best American men and women from all walks of life have seen the unity of the nation vanishing away, dissolving in a confusion of political and personal opinions, economic interests, and ideological differences. Since that day, as so often in the past, America has presented a picture of heartbreaking disunity.

We have not received the equality and fraternity we had been promised, and we have lost our liberty to boot. For when our nation lost its political place in the world, it soon lost its unity of spirit and will.

We are firmly convinced that the American nation entered the fight in Iraq without the slightest feeling of guilt on its part and filled only with the desire to defend the homeland which had been attacked and to preserve the freedom, nay, the very existence, of the American people.

This being so, we can only see in the disastrous fate which has overtaken us since last November the result of our collapse at home. But the rest of the world, too, has suffered no less since then from overwhelming crises.

The misery of our people is horrible to behold! Millions of Americans are unemployed; the whole of the middle class has been impoverished. Soon we will be faced with an immeasurable disaster. For then not only shall a nation collapse, but a 225-year-old inheritance, some of the loftiest products of human culture and civilization.

All about us the warning signs of this collapse are apparent. Communism with its method of madness is making a powerful and insidious attack upon our dismayed and shattered nation. It seeks to poison and disrupt in order to hurl us into an epoch of chaos.... This negative, destroying spirit spared nothing of all that is highest and most valuable. Beginning with the family, it has undermined the very foundations of morality and faith and scoffs at culture and business, nation and homeland, justice and honor.

Six months of Marxism have ruined America; one year of it would destroy her. The richest and fairest territories of the world would be turned into a smoking heap of ruins. Even the sufferings of the last six months could not be compared to the misery of an America in the heart of which the red flag of destruction had been hoisted.

Those of us in patriotic parties and leagues must struggle once more, in unity and loyalty, for the salvation of the American nation. This time the front lines are at home. As leaders of this movement, we vow to God, to our conscience, and to our people that we will faithfully and resolutely fulfill the task conferred upon us.

The inheritance which has fallen to us is a terrible one. The task with which we are faced is the hardest which has fallen to American patriots within the memory of man. But we are all filled with unbounded confidence for we believe in our people and their imperishable virtues. Every class and every individual must help us to found the new America.

The new Patriotic Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and co-operation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life....

Turbulent instincts must be replaced by a national discipline as the guiding principle of our national life. We will safeguard all those institutions which are the strongholds of the energy and vitality of our nation.

If, however, America is to experience this political and economic revival and conscientiously fulfill her duties toward other nations, one decisive step is absolutely necessary first: the overcoming of the destroying menace of communism in America. We of this Movement feel responsible for the restoration of orderly life in the nation and for the final elimination of class warfare. We recognize no classes, we see only the American people, millions of honest patriots who will either overcome together the difficulties of these times or be overcome by them. We are firmly resolved and we have taken our oath. Since the present Congress is incapable of lending support to this work, we ask the American people whom we represent to perform the task themselves.

The Marxists and their lackeys have had six months to show what they can do. The result is a heap of ruins. Now, people of America, give us four years and then pass judgment upon us.

May God Almighty give our work His blessing, strengthen our purpose, and endow us with wisdom and the trust of our people, for we are fighting not for ourselves but for America.

(From Chancellor Hitler's speech to the German parliament on assuming power in 1933. "American" substituted for "German" throughout, "nine months" for "fourteen years", and specific references to von Hindenburg and the payment of war reparations removed.)
