THE RULES - SOCIAL CONSERVATISM
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The GOP party platform (by the way, where are the GOP folks who represent this platform? I want them in office), has many sections, but the core values, the ideas and values that make the GOP what it is, are based on our Judeo-Christian foundation, as Americans. The main stream media (MSM) attacks social conservatives at every turn and uses every weakness shown by a GOP politician as a way to drive a wedge between the two factions of the party, conservatives and rino’s. Social values are where the GOP must make a stand.

We must preserve the values of America and the GOP, for they are based upon the values our great country was founded on:

* Uphold the right to keep and bear arms. Sounds simple enough, but it is attacked daily by lawmakers, media and liberal groups such as Handguns Inc. To maintain this right, we MUST follow the party platform of calling for the teaching of the Constitution in schools across this country.

* Ensure equal treatment for all. Sounds simple enough, but as you can see by the Ricci case involving Sotomayor, some people are prone to being more equal than others and that is wrong. It is imperative that we run candidates that demonstrate these values in their beliefs and daily lives. We oppose discrimination, we reject preferences, quotas, and set-asides, whether in education, corporate boardrooms, or civil service opportunities.

* Protection of our national symbols is a must. It is our moral duty to elect candidates that will adhere to and push for the usage of the Pledge of Allegiance in schools. We must ensure our elected officials will not allow activist judges to legislate from the bench. We must defend the flag, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and all of our national symbols.

* Freedom of Speech and freedom of the press are paramount values of the social conservative and they must be defended at all costs. It is our obligation to elect officials who will defend these rights and ensure that our basic core freedom to dissent and speak the truth be maintained in its entirety.

* Maintaining the dignity and sanctity of human life is a core conservative value. Each life begins at conception, ask anyone who has ever killed a pregnant woman and been charged with two counts of murder. If it is murder then, it is murder when someone has an abortion. Part of maintaining dignity and sanctity of life is treating the elderly well, providing for the needs of the handicapped, opposing assisted suicide and euthanasia. Our obligation is not to shy away from this fight, but to take it to our opposition. We need to ensure our candidates reflect these values and can articulate them at every turn.

* The preservation of traditional marriage is paramount to our platform. If we give in, give way and allow concessions on this, it kicks the door open to dismantle the balance of our platform and unravel the core values of America. This issue is tied directly to parental rights and once again, all of our candidates must be strong and able to articulate this issue.

* Religious liberty and freedom are why we are here. If our founders had not fled a state run religion and oppression of their rights to worship freely, we would not have had a country based upon Christian values. Our candidates must be able to articulate religious freedom in a secular progressive movement.

* Property rights are paramount. We must defend them. We have to stop government from taking personal property and giving it to campaign donors and investors. We need to be able to articulate and defend this. Whether it is a condo being built or a green space being created, personal property shall never be taken to give to another.

* Support of Native American communities. The party platform calls for economic freedom and independence for everyone. The pursuit of happiness is paramount in America. This extends to all people.

Do not listen to the MSM. They are going to spend the next year and a half telling you that these values are meaningless. The attacks have started already. CBS is letting Bob Schieffer question aloud, on their news, if the GOP should move away from family values. MSNBC and the New York Times have teamed up to state that red state conservatives are hypocrites when it comes to family values, ignoring the ethical and value issues of the democrats. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews is using his pittance of an audience to allege that the GOP has “embarrassed themselves” out of the family values business.

We do not need politicians. We do not need lawyers. We need candidates of integrity and value. We need people who say what they mean and mean what they say. As we enter this election cycle, do not fall for the cult of personality. Attend candidate forums and ask them pointed questions. If you get vague answers, you know they are not ethical, honest and are not conservative. Pin them down, make them uncomfortable and don’t be ashamed. If you don’t do it in the primaries, you will have no one to blame but yourself when you have to choose between bad candidate one and worse candidate two. Be a responsible voter.
