Are you Pro-Choice (defined as being in favor of killing babies prior to birth)? Are you Pro-Life (defined as being opposed to the killing of unborn babies)? Are you undecided? Does it matter with the new health care bill? It does if you do not want to pay for it with your tax dollars. You see, this is not about the moral and ethical issues of abortion, it is about the fiscal responsibility of health care.

Whether you support abortion or not, the question is this: Do you support paying for someone else’s lack of responsibility? We all know that babies are a hazard of sex. We know that birth control helps prevent babies. We know that not having sex is the only way to ensure one does not have a baby, ever. So, if two people have sex and I am not one of them, I’m not even there to watch the blessed or ugly event, depending upon the participants involved, and three months later it is discovered that the drunken, stoned, sober, but somehow unprotected female of the species is now pregnant and decides not to have the child, why is it my responsibility, as a tax payer, to pay for the abortion? Why does someone else’s lack of responsibility mean I have to pay higher taxes?

I’ve had a vasectomy. If I want a night on the town, followed by clumsy, drunken sex, is it your responsibility to pay for it? No you say. What if I wasn’t fixed and she became pregnant? What if we decided she should have an abortion? Why should you pay for it?

Here we have the ultimate issue in the health care bill and it is not the moral issue of whether or not killing unborn babies is right, it isn’t. If I can be prosecuted for two murders, for killing a pregnant woman, then abortion is murder. Until that law is changed, I will always feel that way. The ultimate issue in this: Why should anyone else pay for the end result of your recreational activities? The health care bill says if you own firearms, you cannot get health care, presumably because they pose a health risk. I assert that my firearms have killed less people than Ted Kennedy’s car. But, I digress. Just because two or more people chose to have thirty seconds or thirty hours of sex, I should not have to pay for the end result of their coupling and neither should you.

Forcing people to pay for the end result of other people's sexual activity is just as wrong as forcing people to pay for someone else’s sexual activity. It isn’t a matter of ethics. It isn’t a matter of Roe v. Wade. It isn’t even a matter of right and wrong, it is a matter of fiduciary responsibility and the American people have never had to pay for other people's sex lives and they shouldn’t start now. It is time to kill the bill.
