Fifteen
years ago when we were going through Cancer with my father, this book
would have been wonderful. Interspersed with prayers and suggestions,
this book gives both the patient and their loved ones lots of insight
on dealing with this disease. Dealing with it from a spiritual side as
well as medically, is so important for everyone. It's sometimes hard to
know what to say to someone who's going through a cancer diagnosis and
this book helps you to understand the emotions that person is going
through.
This small book covers numerous topics such as guilt,
frustration, etc. and has a guide in the back for practical things you
can do with someone diagnosed with Cancer. It offers some wise words in
what NOT to say, and gives you some pointers before you get involved.
What I liked best about this book was that it didn't simply tell you to
keep smiling. It offers practical, realistic advice that is usable.
The
book is small in size and is a perfect gift book. There is even a page
in the front to record giver and receiver names. This book, while small,
is an invaluable resource because when there is a diagnosis of Cancer
it affects the patient and everyone around them.
I'd give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.
