Super Bowl XLIV, Sunday, February 7th @ 5:25 (CST)
Personally, I hope it’s a blowout in favor of the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have been around for 40 plus years and this is their first time in the big game. You gotta love that!
In addition, my team, The Houston Texans, have to play in the same division as the Indianapolis Colts and frankly I’m tired of watching those guys win. All the time. Every time. Having said all of that let me say this, never bet against Peyton Manning.
If he remains healthy, Peyton Manning should retire from the NFL some day with almost every great record that a QB can possibly hold. He’s arguably the best to ever play the position. Manning knows how to win.
The fact of this NFL season is this; the Indianapolis Colts only lost the games they chose to lose. No one genuinely ever beat them. I fervently believe the Colts could have won all 16 games this season. They basically decided not to win their last two games.
The Saints can’t say the same. The wheels came off of the Saints juggernaut along the way, and only in the post-season did they regain their swagger. Will that be enough? Will Drew Brees step-up to Manningesque stature? Will Reggie Bush be a factor?
The odds-makers show the Colts as a 4.5 favorite. Those same odds-makers also predict a high-scoring Super Bowl matchup. Either way Manning or “Who Dat!” this one should be a lot of fun if both teams play up to their potential.
Go Saints!
