
Teachers in the International Business Academy (IBA), a district high school magnet program, provided International Week to create interest in world cultures. The director of the IBA program is Ms. La’Quesha Grigsby.
Ms. Anjana Parmar, the mother of a student in the IBA program provided food samples representing the culture of India. She was assisted by Ms. Lata Parmar who was visiting here from India. These ladies also dressed Ms. Grigsby in a sari.
Students of Ms. Kim Sharp conducted research on fairy tales around the world. They created a bulletin board that showed many similarities between fairy tales that children of the United States know and those that are popular in other countries.
In the class of Ms. Cynthia Lyman, students took an imaginary trip to Thailand. The classroom of Ms. Denise Jackson was transformed by students into a Brazilian jungle. Mr. Steve Oakes who teaches International Marketing created displays of brands that are popular around the world.
