week capping the season off with a road
victory at Rosehill. The
Warriors traveled to Rosehill ready for battle and
they struck fast,
earning their first goal in the first 30 seconds.

WALLER ISD - Congratulations to Waller High School seniors Mayra
Rodriguez, Vanessa Fabela, and Katrina Fite (pictured front row left
to right). Mayra and Vanessa signed letter of intents to play
collegiate soccer. Mayra signed on with Louisiana Tech University and
Vanessa signed with Texas Southern University. Katrina signed with
Stephen F. Austin University to compete in cross country/track and

Athletes declare national letters of intent to play at the collegiate
level
KLEIN ISD - More than 40 student-athletes from all four
high schools across the Klein ISD took part in the 2012 National
Signing Day held Feb. 1, 2012. Athletes from several sports took part
in the day as Klein High had 10 athletes, Klein Collins 15, Klein
Forest four and Klein Oak 12 ink college scholarships.

from Fuel
Up to
Play 60 which is the in-school nutrition and physical
activity
program founded and now sponsored by the National Dairy
Council® (NDC) and the
National Football League (NFL). The ‘Fuel Up’
program is based on a mutual
commitment to the health of the next
generation. The U.S. Department of
Agriculture has joined the effort
as well as many businesses and industry
leaders.
This comprehensive program focuses on promoting healthier
eating
and more physical activity opportunities school-wide. Students and
adults work together to select and implement a series of "Plays" that
result in long-term changes in these two important areas.

HOUSTON, TX - The varsity football team at Houston Christian (HC) was
selected as a finalist for the 2012 Sportsmanship Award for the 2011
football season by Houston's Touchdown Club, founded in 1966 as a
chapter of the National Football Foundation. The team will be honored
at the Seventh Annual Comerica Bank Sportsmanship Award banquet on
January 25, 2012 at the JW Marriott, 5150 Westheimer.
These
finalists are among some of the finest teams in the city, from each
school division. A representative of the HC football squad will be
seated at the head table during the ceremony, along with his head
coach for the season Mike Johnston. Coach Johnston recently retired at
the end of the year after eight successful seasons as HC head Football
coach. The Houston football chapter of the Texas Association of Sports
Officials will name only one winner in the 3A/Private School division,
in which HC is a nominee along with Lutheran South, St. Thomas,
Stafford, and West Columbia.

HOUSTON
– Dekaney High School will honor its state championship
football team at a mini-parade and recognition rally at 6 p.m. Monday,
Jan. 23 at the campus. The Wildcats won the Texas 5A, Division 2,
State
Football Championship against Cibolo Steele, 34-14, Dec. 17 at
Cowboys
Stadium in Arlington.

TOMBALL ISD - Tomball High School Football Coach David Elmore
presented senior Robert McStravick with the Outstanding Football
Scholar Award during the THS Football Banquet. McStravick was selected
for this recognition because he excelled in his academics and
maintained the highest grade point average on the team.

CYFAIR ISD - Student athletes at CFISD high schools signed national
letters of intent to their respective colleges and universities during
National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

students signed letters of intent:

CYFAIR ISD — All 10 CFISD high schools’ football and basketball
programs will retain their University Interscholastic League (UIL)
district from the previous realignment that brought them into District
17-5A in 2010.
The UIL released its biannual district
realignment at 9 a.m. on Thursday, keeping Cypress Creek, Cy-Fair,
Cypress Falls, Cypress Lakes, Cypress Ranch, Cypress Ridge, Cypress
Springs, Cypress Woods, Jersey Village and Langham Creek high schools
as the 10 representatives in District 17-5A.
The district
remains in Region III with all Houston-area representatives. CFISD’s
bi-district playoff opponents will also remain the same in District
18-5A—a seven-team district featuring Alief Elsik, Alief Hastings,
Alief Taylor, Aldine, Aldine Eisenhower, Aldine MacArthur and Aldine
Nimitz.

HOUSTON, TX - Max N. Bowman, who has a broad range of experience as a
coach and administrator on both the professional and collegiate
levels, has been named Head Football Coach at Houston Christian High
School (HC). HC recently joined the Southwest Preparatory Conference
(the SPC), which consists of 19 of the finest college preparatory
schools located in Texas and Oklahoma.
Max Bowman was special
teams' coordinator at Boston College, also coaching offensive line in
1980 when he recruited and signed a young quarterback named Doug
Flutie, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy®.

Cypress Woods runner Craig Nowak was named the 2011-2012 Gatorade Texas Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.

CYFAIR ISD - Gatorade, in collaboration with ESPNHS, announced Cypress
Woods High School senior Craig Nowak as its 2011-2012 Gatorade Texas
Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year on Monday. Nowak is the first
recipient of this award from Cypress Woods.
The award
recognizes outstanding athletic excellence and high standards of
academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off
the racecourse.
Nowak won the Class 5A state cross country
championship in 2011 with a time of 15:16.05, leading the Wildcats to
fourth place as a team. He also won the Foot Locker South Regional
championships in 14:37 and finished 14th at the national Foot Locker
Cross Country Championships.

CYFAIR ISD — Thirty-three CFISD athletes were named to the Texas High
School Coaches Association (THSCA) 2011 Academic All-State Football
Team, sponsored by State Farm Insurance.
In order to be
considered for recognition, nominated athletes must:
- have an
overall grade point average of 92 or above, including grades 9-12 and
the first six weeks of grade 12;
- have been a member of the
team in good standing at the time of nomination;
- be a senior;

WALLER ISD - The Waller High School Varsity Volleyball Team has
another athletic All State honor that was recently announced. This is
the second athletic All State honor this year for the Waller High
School Varsity Volleyball Team.
Waller High School Junior
Morgan Heise made 2nd team All State for the Texas Sports Writers
Association as a Libero. Heise was also named 17-4A Defensive Player
of the Year in November. Senior Kamryn Dimas was the first to receive
an athletic Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All State
Volleyball Team honor announced in November. Senior Sara DeBerry,
Senior Morgan Kammerer, Senior Kamryn Dimas, and Senior Nichole
Barkley all received TGCA Volleyball Academic All-State Team honors as
well.

All-District honors were earned by Race Mellman, Hunter Schmidt, Eric
Huffman, Rhett Loewe, D.J. Johnson, Colten Frisby, Jacob Parmer, Zach
Hendrix, T.J. Nelson, Jordan Hamilton, Andrew Rush, Rene Reyes, Nick
Stubblefield, Josh Hunter, Derek Eckermann, John Landin, Clay
Schluens, and Justin Walker. Academic All-District honors are awarded
to varsity athletes who maintain a 90 cumulative average or better
during their sport’s season.
