KLEIN ISD - Feb. 1, 2012, has been designated as Digital Learning Day by the Alliance for Excellent Education and the U.S. Department of Education. The Klein ISD was selected as one of the school districts nationwide to participate in this inaugural event.
The program originates from the Newseum in Washington D.C. and is hosted by former CNN anchor Leon Harris and West Virginia Governor Bob Wise. The campaign is intended to celebrate exemplary teachers and instructional strategies that maximize effective and innovative uses of technology.
KLEIN ISD - Four obesity prevention programs in the Klein ISD made school year resolutions to make changes and promote healthy eating among students, faculty and parents. Trim Epps Island Community (Epps Island Elementary), GWF Grizzlies Get Fit (Greenwood Forest Elementary), McDougle Grow Your Own (McDougle Elementary), and Shape Up Schultz (Schultz Elementary) began initiatives as a result of a grant during the 2011-12 school year.
KLEIN ISD - The extent of what parents will do for their child is often limitless. In the cases of former student Ryan Flores and current student Kimmy Witty, it was their fathers who, literally, saved their lives.
Ryan Flores received his father Mike’s kidney when he was
just
16 months old, and when he was five Ryan was diagnosed with Stage IV
lymphoma
cancer. Fortunately, on April 15, 1999, he went into
remission. During this
time the Flores family recalled the tremendous
amount of support they received
from their family, friends and Ryan’s
teachers at Roth Elementary.
KLEIN ISD - Dr. Susan K. Borg, the Klein ISD associate superintendent for instruction and student services, was named a 2012 Distinguished Educator of the Year as an administrator by the Sam Houston State University (SHSU) College of Education. “We are thrilled to learn that Dr. Borg has been chosen for this exceptional honor,” said Dr. Jim Cain, superintendent of the Klein ISD. “Dr. Borg is amazingly dedicated to her job, is committed to the achievement of the student as a whole, and has always gone above and beyond what was expected. We in the Klein ISD could not be happier for her and her achievements as she is an outstanding administrator."
