KLEIN ISD - It was 9 a.m. on a Friday at Klein Forest High

districts and waiting as an alternate, senior Lashundria “Renee” Carter maintained
a rigorous practice hoping for a berth to Regionals. And, as luck would have
it, she got her golden ticket.

“I received the call saying if we could get there by noon
and if she could make weight, she was in,” recalled Coach Clark. Then after
working with her parents and the school, both Clark and Renee made it to the
regional event fortunately held in Katy, Texas, where she weighed in well under
the 148 lb. mark.

WHEATLEY HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL FORFEITS FIVE WINS BECAUSE OF INELIGIBLE PLAYERS

HOUSTON ISD – The HISD Athletics Department Tuesday presented the University Interscholastic League’s 22-4A District Executive Committee with the findings of an investigation into an alleged UIL rule violation related to the Wheatley High School boys varsity basketball team.

The HISD investigation revealed that a UIL rules violation occurred this season when six freshmen enrolled at the Young Men’s College Preparatory Academy were allowed to play in six games for Wheatley. The students reside in the Sterling High School attendance zone. The UIL District Executive Committee agreed with this finding. The rules clearly state that students attending schools with no attendance zones, such as the Young Men’s College Preparatory Academy, are to participate in athletics on their home campus.
