LOCAL CHURCH TRANSFORMS WALLER ISD'S ROBERTS ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

By Marianne Kosik

WALLER ISD - Roberts Road Elementary School is located in a rural area in Hockley, Texas, just on the outskirts of Cypress, Texas. The school student population is approximately 480 smiling students with 85% of those students residing in economically disadvantaged homes. A nearby church, Community of Faith Church, embraced the students, staff, and community and wanted to do something special for the school and something special they did. Community of Faith Church reached out to Principal Angie Davis to ask her if they could make Roberts Road Elementary their next community service project.

Davis said, “They approached me and we discussed general needs, but the overall project and generosity far exceeded any of our expectations. We were in tears and the students were all smiles through the entire process.”
