FOURTH GRADE PHILANTHROPIST WORKS TO SERVE OTHERS

TOMBALL ISD - Tomball Elementary School student Jessica Seidner is passionate about helping others. This bubbly and energetic 4’11” tall fourth grader packs a powerful punch when she is on a giving mission. Over the past two years, she has participated in and developed ideas for five community service projects at her school. The projects included Soap for Haiti, a walk-a-thon to benefit juvenile diabetes, Pennies for Patients, a food drive, and a pet supply drive.

Seidner was inspired by her father, who often helps out neighbors and
friends. Seidner believes it is important to help family, friends and
people she does not know because that is the best way to improve
society. “You should always help those in your community and your
society who don’t have a lot of things that you always have. These
projects help people and pets, and they bring us together to help each
other,” she said.
TAEC FOCUSES ON HELPING STUDENTS MAKE GOOD CHOICES

TOMBALL ISD - A typical day for most students includes getting off the bus, visiting with friends and beating the bell to class. The school day is structured differently for students attending the Tomball Alternative Education Center (TAEC) in the Tomball Independent School District.

TAEC is a state mandated disciplinary alternative program for students who violate the Student Code of Conduct. For example, students can be assigned to TAEC if they are caught with drugs, caught stealing, or for other discretionary reasons such as failing to change their behavior while assigned to In-School Suspension. The length of a placement is determined by the offense. Students follow specific rules while attending TAEC. There is a strict dress code, students cannot attend campus events, and they are not allowed to visit their home campus.
