											<title>MAGNOLIA WEST FORENSICS SOCIETY BRINGS HOME ANOTHER SWEEPSTAKES AWARD</title>
											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - Combining the efforts of both novice and varsity team members, Magnolia West placed 2nd overall in the four and five “A” division at the recent Wharton UIL Invitational Tournament. Individual trophy winners were Leon Young 1st Place in Novice Extemporaneous Speaking, Cameron Wilde 2nd Place in Senior Extemporaneous Speaking, and Co-Captain Francisco Hernandez placed 3rd in Senior Lincoln-Douglas Debate. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Also winning trophies for their efforts in the dramatic arts were Andrew Bauerle 2nd Place in Auditioning, the ensemble of freshmen improvisational acting troupe “The Idiots” consisting of Ryan McCoy, Michael Cowell, Aubrie Pederson, and Hayley Hatcher received a 2nd place trophy. All members placed in similar events at the previous tournament.&lt;br&gt;</description>

											<title>MAGNOLIA FCCLA ATTENDS LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE</title>
											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - The Magnolia
High School Red and White chapters of Family, Career and Community Leaders of
America attended the Region 4 Leadership Conference in Galveston, Texas,
January 26-28, 2012. The Magnolia High School
chapter members consisting of Amber Coronel, Eddie Gonzalez, Vicky Sherfry,
Alexys Stephens, Andres Garcia, Jade Hooper, Cynthia Luke, Viridiana Leon, Fernanda
Rosa, Abigail Figueroa and Donny Eckhardt were among 700 delegates attending
the two-day conference. The youth
developed the theme, “Highway to Success”, which was carried out through
various specialized leadership tracks, the general sessions and competitive
events.

&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;STAR (Students Taking Action
with Recognition) and Proficiency Events are competitive events in which
members participated. These events allow
members to showcase their life skills in different areas of competitions.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>

											<title>MAGNOLIA ART WORK TO BE AUCTIONED AT RODEO ART SHOW</title>
											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - On Friday, January 13th, 2012, Magnolia ISD held its annual Rodeo Art Show sponsored by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The School Art Committee Judges reviewed all of the district’s artwork entries. Magnolia High School students Senior Katlynn Hallisey and Junior Katrina English were selected as Gold Medal winners. They will have their artwork on display at Reliant Arena for the duration of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo season and will be honored at a special ceremony on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012. They will also have the opportunity to have their artwork compete against the artwork of other Houston area winners for a chance to be auctioned in the Rodeo’s School Art Auction. Congratulations to each and every one of these artists on a job well done.&lt;br&gt;</description>

Each student is enrolled in a class that follows a career pathway which consists of: Human Services, Education &amp;amp;amp; Training, and Hospitality &amp;amp;amp; Tourism. Classes are underway, TEKS are being introduced and the energy level is high as the 3 teachers prepare the students for another successful year! Their student led organization, FCCLA, is being presented to each class and dues are being collected. 											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - Lexi Giles and Brandon Rinker, Magnolia High School seniors, have been named as 2012 National Merit Semi-Finalists. Their high PSAT scores represent the less than 1 percent of the nation’s high school graduating seniors. Lexi and Brandon will now compete for some 8,400 Merit Scholarship awards. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Having a life-long love for animals, Lexi plans to pursue a Veterinarian
 degree from A&amp;amp;amp;M University. Brandon, who is interested in the 
medical field, plans to major in pre-med at A&amp;amp;amp;M University, followed
 by a degree in Psychiatry from Baylor College of Medicine. Being named 
National Merit Semi-Finalists validates the commitment Lexi and Brandon 
have made to their academic excellence in pursuit of their chosen fields

											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - Forty-two students at Magnolia High School have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the 2011 AP Exams taken last May. The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while in high school and to earn college credit for their successful performance on the AP Exams. About 18 percent of the more than 1.9 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.&lt;br&gt;</description>

											<title>MAGNOLIA STUDENTS PLACE FLAGS AT HOUSTON VETERANS ADMINISTRATION CEMETERY</title>
											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD -&amp;amp;nbsp; &lt;font&gt;On
 Veterans Day, students from Magnolia and Williams Elementary began 
collecting change to purchase American flags. Students were able to 
purchase over 1,000 flags with these donations. Students from both 
campuses competed to win a chance to deliver the flags to the Houston 
Veterans Administration Cemetery by writing an essay about Their 
Military Hero. On Memorial
Day, May 30, 2011, in a show of respect and gratitude, these students 
placed the 1,000 flags amongst the memorials.&lt;/font&gt;

											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - On April 13, Magnolia Elementary celebrated Thomas Edison Day. Students from the Gifted and Talented class shared their inventions, blueprints, research reports, and robot stories with parents and classmates. Inventions displayed as prototypes, models, and in student created catalogs ranged from Reflector Kitty Toys to Weird Blimps, EZ-Trash Carriers, Kid Savers and Pitch Kings. Students enjoyed creating the inventions while learning about profit and loss, the need to document ideas, and effective advertisement. One fifth grade student collected over 20 orders from interested customers!&lt;br&gt;</description>

											<title>MAGNOLIA AND MAGNOLIA WEST HIGH SCHOOLS PRESENT PICTURE TO BOARD MEMBERS</title>
											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - Students from the Magnolia and Magnolia West High Schools presented a framed picture to the Magnolia Independent School District Board President, Cecil Bell Jr. and the School District Superintendant Dr. Todd Stephens for supporting the districts students organizations. The photograph was taken of all of the students that participated at the District 7 SkillsUSA Competition that was held in Beaumont, Texas. The students were representatives of the SkillsUSA student organization that services career and technology education students. &lt;br&gt;</description>

											<title>MAGNOLIA WEST HIGH SCHOOL BAND SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS</title>
											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - The MWHS Band and Color Guard awarded four Richard Wilkie Senior Scholarships at the 2010-2011 Band Banquet and Concert. Each of the section winners received $1000.00 in scholarship money for their college of choice. Out of all the seniors that applied for the memorial scholarship, one student from each brass, percussion, woodwind and color guard section was chosen. The seniors had to be academically eligible and along with their personal statements, past leadership positions, and essays, were judged by a scholarship committee to pick the most deserving out of the Mustang Band/Guard senior class. 											<title>2011 PEARL FINCHER ART CONTEST</title>
											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - Two Magnolia ISD art students were recognized for their artwork during the May MISD School Board meeting. Barry Carter of Magnolia West and Katlynn Hallisey of Magnolia High School participated in the Pearl Fincher Student Art Contest, April 12-24, at the Museum of Fine Arts. Barry Carter placed 2nd in the high school division with his painting entitled &apos;Horse Whisperer&apos; while Katlynn Hallisey received Jurors&apos; Selection for her piece &apos;We Lost the War.&apos;&lt;br&gt;</description>

											<title>PROBLEM SOLVERS AWARDED</title>
											<description>MAGNOLIA ISD - Students from Smith and Nichols Sawmill Elementary Schools were recognized at the Magnolia ISD Board Meeting Monday, May 9, 2011.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The team from Smith Elementary won 1st place in the Leadership category. The students developed a literacy awareness project collecting 1289 books which are being distributed to students to students who have few or no books at home. In addition, students learned about Helen Keller and learned to use a Braille machine. &lt;br&gt;</description>
