TEXAS A&M REPORTS ANOTHER ROUND OF INCREASES IN JOB POSTINGS AND RECRUITER VISITS

COLLEGE STATION, TX – Job opportunities for Texas A&M
University students and graduates continue to be even more promising —
based on the increasing number of recruiters coming to the campus and
the volume of Career Center job postings.

Career Center Executive Director Leigh Turner reports that last year’s
resurgence in demand for Aggie talent has continued and has even
exceeded last year’s demand. “As we compare fall/spring of last year
with this fall/spring, we have seen an increase of 20 percent in job
postings and 10 percent in active recruiting companies. More than 3,000
companies will be seeking A&M students this year and representatives
from many these companies have made one or more campus visits,” Turner
notes.

To accommodate the job-seeking students and the employee-seeking
recruiters, the Career Center provides 30 interview rooms, which are in
high demand during much of the school year, and it has a 34-member staff
who assist both students and representatives of the off-campus
entities, she adds.

HOW TO STEER CLEAR OF UNPRINCIPLED ADVISORS AND FRAUDSTERS

By Neil Behrmann

Be very careful if you recently retired or came into money and you’re looking for a safe investment. You could be a very attractive target for a crook. Once your money is gone, it can be impossible to get it back.

Mass Market Fraud

Mass Market Fraud is a type of fraud which aims to make victims part with their money by promising cash, prizes, services and high returns on investment. Examples include foreign lotteries, 'boiler room' frauds, correspondence scams where fraudsters purport to act on behalf of bona fide charities and institutions and ask you to provide money and personal information. The majority of these frauds are committed from overseas by way of email, telephone or letter to victims. Classic scams include:
29 SERIOUSLY INSPIRING INTERVIEWS FOR ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS

Business ventures build on top of one another like Lego towers — they don’t spring Athena-like from the foreheads of entrepreneurs, no matter what some may claim. Anyone with a strong idea, a lot of luck, and even more hard work can succeed in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. But they need to intently study the victories and mistakes of their predecessors before embarking on any sort of entrepreneurial journey. No matter their background or industry, the following folks have plenty of advice and inspiration to offer while future innovators compile their research.

Muhammad Yunus with the Nobel Foundation, Oct. 13, 2006: This distinguished Nobel Peace Prize recipient pioneered the use of microcredits through the Grameen Bank, which he established in his native Bangladesh in 1983; many for-profit and nonprofit ventures these days utilize the same concept when investing in underprivileged regions. Muhammad Yunus stands as a sterling example of the social entrepreneurship phenomenon, which blends business opportunities with causes promoting economic, social, political, or environmental justice.
HIRING OUTLOOK FOR THE SECOND QUARTER SIMILAR TO PRE-RECESSION, CAREERBUILDER'S SURVEY FINDS

CHICAGO, IL – Hiring plans in the U.S. are getting back to pre-recession levels, according to CareerBuilder’s latest nationwide survey. One-third of employers added full-time, permanent employees in the first quarter of this year, on par with 2007 and the highest increase reported since the recession began. The momentum is expected to continue with 30 percent of employers planning to add new full-time, permanent staff in April through June. The national survey, which was conducted by Harris Interactive© from February 9 to March 2, 2012, included more than 2,000 hiring managers and human resource professionals across industries and company sizes.

“We have moved from an anemic job market to one that is stable and growing,” said Matt Ferguson, CEO of CareerBuilder. “While still cautious, employers are feeling better about the state of the U.S. economy and the debt situation in Europe. Forty-one percent of companies reported their sales have increased over the last six months, which is helping to fuel greater confidence in hiring. The amount of job listings we’re seeing for key categories on CareerBuilder.com are similar to that of 2007. All indicators point to steady improvement in the job market in the second quarter and beyond.”
COLLEGE STATION, TX — Texas A&M University continues
to rank tops in Texas among public universities and among the top 10
public institutions nationally on a return-on-investment (ROI)
basis — what graduates earn in their careers compared to their college
costs — according to the 2012 rankings by PayScale, a Seattle-based
compensation data firm, and published by Bloomberg Businessweek.

Texas A&M ranks 8th nationally among public institutions and 60th
overall in the new ROI rankings that are typically dominated by private
institutions. The 60th place overall ranking for Texas A&M
represents an 11-place jump compared to its standing in PayScale’s
previous survey in 2010. Rice University is the only Texas institution
to rank higher.

Traditionally, Texas A&M ranks high in national surveys about
colleges and universities, particularly those that have “best value”
perspectives. In a survey with a focus similar to that taken by
PayScale, Smart Money magazine ranked Texas A&M first
nationally in 2011 for “payback ratio”— which the magazine defined as
the earnings levels of an institution’s graduates compared to what they
paid in tuition, fees and related costs for their undergraduate
educations.
