Adapted from the book How to be a Praying Mom by Jeannie St. John Taylor, Hendrickson Publishers. Gracious Heavenly Father, I praise you because you are a God of love. Thank you for being holy and righteous and calling us to imitate you – calling us to love the way you love. Give us eyes to see the world through your eyes of love. Forgive us for the many times we fall short. Thank you for accepting us, despite our tendencies to be unloving, as you lead us closer to your perfect love.Remind us that love is an action, not a feeling. Help us act in love toward the people who wrong us. Give us wisdom to overlook flaws. Help us pray for others rather than resenting them. Help us bless rather than curse. Pull up any bitter roots that try to grip our hearts, and wind the tendrils of your love around them instead. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, amen. Supporting verses: “Little
children, let us not lov... |

Father God, our Abba Daddy,
Teach us today that you truly are our heavenly Daddy and you love to supply our needs and give us the desires of our hearts. Just as we take pleasure in caring for our children and giving special gifts to loved ones, you enjoy caring for and giving to us. We aren’t bothering you when we ask for things for ourselves. You want us to ask. Over and over in the scriptures you urge us to ask you to supply physical, spiritual and relational needs, promising that if those requests fit in with your will and honor Jesus’ name, you will grant all of them. So as we go about our day today please remind us to ask you for help instead of worrying. And help us not feel selfish or guilty for asking, because the answers you send will not only help us but glorify you. Thank you Father that we can pray directly to you in the name of your Son Jesus, amen. Supporting verses: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you... [Read More] |

O powerful God who stretched out the heavens and stirs up the sea so that waves roar, we know you can accomplish the impossible. We believe that if we ask you can:
Restore our impossibly broken relationships Change our rebellious children Provide jobs when the economy is collapsing Supply us with food and clothing Heal our bodies Remove our addictions Lift our depression and calm our fears We believe that nothing is ever ruined if we turn and ask you for help, because you are able to impossibly renew us and remake us into your masterpieces. Remind us to keep asking you daily to accomplish the impossible in our lives. We thank you in Jesus’ name, amen. Supporting verses: ESV Version of the Bible “I am . . . the LORD, your maker who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth . . . who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar” Isaiah 51:13 & 15 “If you have faith like a gra... Father God, you search my heart and know everything about me. You know what I’m thinking, and before I speak a single word you know what I’m going to say. No one could possibly count the many times your thoughts rest on me every day. I don’t understand why you would care so much about me, but I’m grateful that you do.
Though I will never be able to fully comprehend your great love for me, I thank you with my whole heart. Thank you that you watch over me and my loved ones for our good to prosper us. Thank you that you will never leave me or forsake me. Teach me to seek after you with my whole heart, and help me remember the many benefits of knowing you and obeying your Word. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen. Supporting verses: “O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;... [Read More] |

Gracious God our Father,
You chose us before the foundations of the world to be holy and without fault in you. And because you love us, you forgive and forget all our flaws and failures and view us as blameless when we return your love by obeying you. You have promised to give us whatever we ask for in Jesus’ name. With all that in mind, I ask you to bless my friend today. If my friend is tired, please fill him / her with your energy. If my friend is ill, heal him / her. If my friend is depressed, lift his / her head with hope. Let my friend feel your love in a word from a friend, the smile of a stranger and the colors of the sky. Help him / her believe that you watch every step, hear every thought and care about every detail of his / her life – because you do. And we thank you. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen. Supporting verses: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly plac... [Read More] |

Father in Heaven,our Abba Daddy,
Our economy is in trouble and no one knows when or if it will recover. Many of us have lost jobs, daily announcements of more down-turns frighten us and the price of basic necessities increases daily. The problems and riots in Europe frighten us. Many of us face a bleak Christmas season with little ability to give. Fear grips us. But, Lord, we will not be afraid. You are our rock; you are our security; we dwell in the shelter of your wings. Over and over your Word promises you will always be with us and help us if we obey your words, and we choose to believe what you say. We choose to trust you no matter how things look. You will help and bless us. God, please bless us. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen. Supporting verses: “He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4 “So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord ... eternal life to anyone who chooses to accept the gift. Thank you for creating
the world through Jesus, the Word who spoke the seas and skies into existence. Thank

O Lord,
You have set your glory above the heavens. The sun and all the stars are the work of your fingers. And yet, amazingly, you are mindful of us. You observe everything we do and our daily lives matter to you. You look down on our loved ones who are too far from home to enjoy the holidays with us and your heart aches for them. So does ours. We want them to feel joy and belonging, to be included in a family. Please ease the loneliness that has settled around some of them like gray fog. Fill the emptiness. Comfort them. Enable the ones we love to feel our love reaching out to them -- longing for them. Open and increase their awareness of your love and protection surrounding them. Send powerful angels to minister to the loneliness. Please banish all hopelessness. Help them fix their eyes on you and know you have a future and a hope for them. Keep them safe from the evil one and make it clear that you planned good things for them long ago. Lift their heads and mak... [Read More] |
