As a conservative
Republican, I had not looked forward to the visit by President Obama to
Savannah, Georgia, but I had learned a great deal from it. Our group had planned a protest to the President’s
visit so that we had arrived before he did at his stops throughout the urban
city. Reporters were present and had
interviewed both the supporters and the protesters; however, they did not air
the coverage equally. While we waited
for his motorcade we were able to engage closely with others who harbored
opposing views of the administration’s policies. During the Presidential visit several things
were experienced by the protesters which included bias by the media who was
present, misconceived stereotypes about those who protested along the route,
and it was evident that racial tensions were not as bad as they were in the past. The main question we had for ourselves at the
end of the day was whether or not we had a successful protest. |

Yesterday on Glenn Beck's radio show he interviewed a gubernatorial candidate for Texas, Debra Medina. Usually I am a fan of Beck, but today I am not so pleased with him. I am not sure if someone else was behind the arrogance in the way he went about the interview with Medina, but it was over the line in my opinion. As soon
as the phone interview began, he delved into badgering her about being a
"9-11 Truther". Medina provided her answer, but it was not the answer
Beck was looking for. That is when I began losing my respect for him.
He is usually fairly good about being objective and allowing the guest
to state their answers and opinions. However, in this interview Beck
came across as trying to force an answer out of Medina that she was not
willing to give. Whether ... |

Should gays be allowed to serve in the military? Whether they should or should not, frankly, the time to perform an outrageously expensive study at the tax payers expense is certainly not during the time of war. Personally, I believe that homosexuality is wrong. Everything that my God has shown me and taught me, I know that it is wrong and is a sin. Honestly, so are a great multitude of things that many of us partake in on a daily basis. My personal belief of whether or not a person of gay sexual orientation is allowed to serve in the military is irrelevant. I am not in the military for one. Maybe this should be an issue that is on the ballot for the citizens to vote on instead of a handful of power hungry politicians making the decision, or a socialistic leader. On Tuesday Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced |

I was watching Bill O'Reilly the other night on the Fox News Channel and he was interviewing a gentleman, of which I cannot remember his name. Nonetheless, Bill asked him who was in control of the Republican Party? The gentleman had told him that basically nobody was at this point. Bill, an independent, was shocked. He asked about Michael Steele and why he did not appear to have any control of the party. As a Republican I can tell you that is very accurate. I
can also tell you that I do not want Michael Steele having control of
the party for two reasons. The first reason is because he is not a
great leader to begin with. There is a real disconnect between him
and the state and local precincts. The only time I receive an email
from him is when he is asking for contributions. I have not known of
any real positive contributions he has made that made a lasting
impact. I am not saying he has not done anything good for the party,
just not anything noticea... |

So our very southern, used to the warm temperatures family
decided to take a vacation into the mountains and stay in a log cabin. We
packed our luggage, all of our luggage, for all six of us, and then probably a
few more families. My husband loaded the van down after very patiently waiting
on me. Our original plan, O.K., his original plan was to leave by 8:00 a.m. We
finally pulled out of the driveway around 10:00 a.m. We didn’t actually leave
the city until about 11:00 a.m. after potty breaks, refueling, etc. We were off
to a great start. I had been checking the weather periodically because we were
hoping that our deprived children would be able to witness snow firsthand.
Surprise! It appeared as though the day before our trip the snow began to fall
as well as the temperatures at home. It was colder than typical for Savannah
with highs in the mid to upper forties and lows in the upper twenti... |
