This world will sting, burn and scorch you,
If you permit yourself to be,
Engulfed in its fiery clutch.
Sorrowful victim of circumstances,
Product of a fallen race,
Striving ever so bitterly,
To emerge from the cocoon,
Of darkness and despair,
Engulfing you.
Keep your gaze upon Christ,
And you will doubtless find,
Your darkness turning
Into the most radiant
Of lights,
Your sorrow into joy,
Immeasurable joy,
And your entire soul,
Filled with the
Divine presence
Of God.
Do not look
Left or right,
Front or back,
At the bitter darkness
Of this world.
Instead let your gaze,
Be focused upon
The ever-glowing brightness
Of Christ.
